Product Catalog - WinMLS version 2 (Retired)
Read about the different types of WinMLS version 2 that may be purchased. To purchase, please download and fill out the order form found where you download the evaluation version of WinMLS ver. 2. If you have questions, please contact us at order@winmls.com .

2 channel measurements
WinMLS ver. 2

  • Support 2 channel measurements on stereo full duplex sound cards (see list of tested sound cards)
  • Max. sampling frequency: 48 kHz (96 kHz for Scientific Plus version)
  • Can measure very long impulse responses. Max. sequence order: 18, limiting the max. size of impulse response to be measured to 2^18-1 samples. Using a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz impulse responses up to 6 seconds can be measured. (Plus version support sequence orders up to 24 dependent on available RAM making measurements of impulse responses of more than 20 seconds possible at 44.1 kHz )
  • Advanced plotting capabilities, plot frequency/impulse response and transfer functions
  • Correction of measurement system supported
  • More than one sequence type available for each sequence order
  • Add-on modules will be avaliable for example for Room Acoustics and sound insulation measurements
  • Export and Import files in the .TIM format to MLSSA (DRA Laboratories)
  • Can be run as batch file and from Matlab (MathWorks inc.). This way repeated measurements can be done automatically, and everything can be run from Matlab.

Price: $389 ($349), Plus ver:$499 ($449)

Powerful Room Acoustics Parameter Calculations
Room Acoustics Parameter Calculations for WinMLS

  • As a room acoustician you can with this product perform your standard acoustical measurements very user friendly, with high quality and at low cost. The powerful measuring method is used by professional acousticans.
  • Measure the impulse responses of rooms, and calculate the room acoustical parameters. All you need, in addition to your normal set of transducers and amplifiers, is a PC and an inexpensive standard sound card (not all sound cards are suitable, we provide a list of tested sound cards).
  • The current version of the module calculates parameters according to the recently revised ISO 3382 standard: Reverberation time, early decay time, early-to-late indices, definition, and centre time. Strength, speech transmission index and two channel options like lateral fraction are also provided. In addition, the new parameter late lateral strength is included. Inter-aural crosscorrelation will be implemented in a future version.
  • Noise detection and compensation is included for all parameters and the calculations are tested against international benchmarks.
  • The toolbox is being developed by dr. Johan L. Nielsen, who has for several years been working with room acoustics both at the Norwegian Institute of Technology and at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He has published papers on measurement techniques and accuracy of room acoustical parameters. He is currently development manager at Silence International AS, in Oslo, Norway.

1 channel measurement at low price
WinMLS Lite ver. 2

  • Support 1 channel measurements on stereo full duplex sound cards (see list of tested sound cards)
  • Max. sampling frequency: 44.1 kHz
  • Can measure very long impulse responses. „h Max. sequence order: 16, limiting the max size of impulse response to be measured to 2^16-1 samples. Using a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz impulse responses up to 1.5 seconds can be measured.
  • The MLS measurements of the WinMLS 2.0 Lite version are similar to MLSSA if the frequency range is not above 20 kHz. The measurement quality is sound card dependent, since MLSSA is 12 bits, a high quality 16 bit sound card may give higher quality measurements.

Price: $279 ($239)

4 channel measurements
WinMLS 4-channel ver. 2

Same features as WinMLS 2.0, but has the following extensions:
  • Four channel simultaneous MLS measurements
  • A/D-D/A-card included
  • Advanced plotting capabilities, plot frequency/impulse response and transfer functions
  • Very small phase difference between channels. Delay between channel pairs is typical less than 0,6E-6 sec.

Price: $1099 ($999)

Multi-channel measurements
WinMLS Multi-channel (>4 channels)

Same features as WinMLS 2.0, but has the following extensions:
  • Up to 24 channel simultaneous MLS measurements (hardware dependent)
  • A/D-D/A-card included
  • Advanced plotting capabilities, plot frequency/impulse response and transfer functions
  • The current limitation of the hardware makes it impossible to measure correct time delay between channel pairs (deviation of appr. 1 milliseconds may occur). The relative phase and the amplitude frequency response is measured correct for all channels.

Designed for Violin Makers
Violin Maker Toolbox for WinMLS

  • As a violin maker you can now perform advanced acoustical measurements of your violin very user friendly and at a very low cost. The powerful measuring method is used by professional acousticans.
  • Measure the modes of the violin, the radiation, the ratio of energy that is transferred from the string to the violin body that determines the playability.
  • All you need is a PC and an inexpensive standard sound card (not all sound cards are suitable, we provide a list of tested sound cards). If you want to measure vibrations of the body, you will need a standard pickup that is usually used for electronically amplifying the violin. To measure the radiation, you will need a microphone. For most measurements an inexpensive microphone is enough (usually this comes with your sound card).
  • Included in the toolbox is the software and a calibrated Force transducer for exciting the violin.
  • The violin maker toolbox is being demonstrated on several acoustics conferences and used by Ph. D. students in violin acoustics. We now hope that serious violin makers will open their eyes and start using this powerful tool.
  • Contact us for more information.
