Very Long Sweeps
We can now offer a customized verison of WinMLS that can measure using a sine sweep of >20 minutes (sampling frequency 48 kH). Using a lower sampling frequency, even longer sweeps are possible.
Up to 24 input channels are available. It is also possible to limit the frequency range of the sweep (e.g. octave band). Several sweeps can be combined to a single impulse/frequency response. By doing this, the total measurement duration can be increased to extend one hour. Using very long sweeps give a very good SNR (signal-to-noise ratio), for each doubling of measurement duration, the SNR is increased by 3 dB.
Very long sweeps are useful for the following applications:
- Airborne sound insulation in difficult cases (high Rw-numbers)
- Airborne sound insulation in noisy environments
- Room acoustic measurements in occupied halls
A normal version of WinMLS 2004 is not capable of this, contact us for more information if you are interested in a customized version.
