Why I wright this? I wrought that I was center of attention (satellite, TV screen, computers…) somewhere in 2007. Who paid attention on this? How I know nobody. At least it looks to me in this way. I was hoping that at least someone is going talk to me. In a while I decided to impress world by telling everyone that US is not more democratic country, it is centralistic country. In order to wright something literally on that subject I have to read some books about politics in the US. Because I am under “big brother” supervision all time and “big brother” hypnotizes me in some way, I was not able to read. Without any research at least I can say why US is centralistic country in my point of view. The big elections in US in 2008 and many debates on many subjects, and something interesting came out from news anchor. You all for changes, and when you come to Washington DC, God bless you. Why all changes what all are promised disappear when new president come to the White House? Who is blessing him? It is very difficult make conclusion from one fact. But this fact for years, and for many presidents. But let say statement of the president who left office. I already finish my term here but you all stay here. Who stay? Who implement the same policy from administration to administration? Is it some more facts? Ronald Reagan Probably it is. How it was during Reagan administration. After shooting Ronald Reagan was depressed and sometime spend outside Washington chopped the bushes. Who was managed the country when president was off? It was vise president or “big brother”? Who is managing the country??? Because I have hard time to handle this mess, I started to write something specific about my life. How hard my life is… Kwa, Kwa, Kwa…. Nobody paid attention either. I started to write about emigration law. During Bush administration was proposed some emigration law. This proposal didn’t become a low. I wright some alternatives was I was heard on the radio. In one side guy try //convix// all that he is for emigration law, and another side he was so happy that proposal didn’t come through the senate. We kill the law, we kill the law!!! Who are we???? I hope someone pays attention on my //wrighting//, eleven persons click on that web page, and I hope they read it, but nobody pick up my ideas. In a while it became not important. After that I come with some idea to write about my all life experience. Chance that someone is going pay attention on this is slim either, but at least I am going to say what I am thinking. At least I am going to have moral satisfaction for something. At home we all work for moral satisfaction. It is nothing a new in my life. I wrought about my insult and humiliation, about affair with virtual guy. I don’t really go in every detail what happened to me. I wrought something about my life at in former Soviet Union, about my life in US; in a while manage to make some conclusion. How I manage not English sentences turn into the decent paragraphs. But anyway I want to wright how my not finished, sometimes, not English sentenced turn to the decent paragraph. - It was that M went to the store and encouraged to sell more vegetables. - Why these surprise you? She is advocate for healthy eating. - It surprises me because major rule in America don’t tell others what to do especially person who knows how to do business, how to make good money. You know you can say what you think just if you want to be fired. If you want to keep job, you keep quiet. - How do you planned to fire first lady. - I am not planned to fire her. It just reminds me how Putin went to the grocery store and ask manager to reduce prices. This is typical Russian way to do business. They need strong hands as Putin has as former KGB leader, and good tsar who take care about people. This is all about old times. - Do you think it is some similarities? - Why not? - Do you remember she said? In one side you want to achieve something in life, and another side you want to be connected to people from where you come from. Why can be both? - It looks if you want to make some career you have to give up something. - Or to do what other ask you to do. - This reminds me conversation many years ago with one guy I went to the University. - What you were talking about. - He said that that he was offering job in KGB and he didn’t want to go because they started to put him against his relatives. I always think that people go to work for KGB in order to make more money. Other jobs offer almost nothing.What do we know about KGB job? I know nothing. - Do you see similarities in these two cases? - Oh, let make question rhetoric. - Did you was at church on Sunday? - Yes. - Why you are so depressed. - Priest started irritates me. - Why? -You know. If it is someone let say not so smart, it always irritate me. -What do they said this time? -Mocking us that we are going to church and pray. -It is not possible. Maybe you misunderstand something. -Oh yes, I misunderstand. You know Ukrainian church has a lot new saints because our church is after repression and Pope turn a lot priest to the saints. And it was day of all saints and priest had a lot fun with this. He said that right now Ukrainians have a lot saints, and they are going to help people. It is exactly you want to heard from priests. - What else he said? - It was some time ago that United states the richest country in the world. And we expect that this people help us to build independent Ukraine. - Not every Ukrainian is stupid. - But where you can find others? - I don’t know. - Why are you going in that church if it irritates you? - Where I have to go? This is one place where I head Ukrainian language; architecture is the same like at home. I am very comfortable there. At summer they put bouquet of flowers. They put daises, popes… and the same as field of wheat. Here you never see nothing like this. You can see field of corn or soy beans. And these fields so clean it is not any weeds. Our fields with all weeds look like masterpiece with flowers daises, popes … - So nostalgic feelings…. Go to the churches on South; it is closer and it is different people there. - I was few times. It was even worth. - Why? - I don’t know. One church celebrates mess using American calendar and I am not really comfortable with this. Even this was not really important. But priest was drunk. And for many years I didn’t see drunk face and don’t really want to see faces like that anymore. In another church a priest looks like Russian “father”. But even this is not matter, what is matter that he promotes intolerance between churches. Some kids make figure of Jesus Crist from wood clips and he said even catholic made this; it is very good. He meant kids from Ukrainian Grease Catholic church which is more connected to the West, but he represents Ukrainian orthodox church which is more connected to the Russia church. These people supposed to promote tolerance and confrontation. I probably demand too much from them. They are people like everyone else. - Where do you spend your day off? - I went to the Ukrainian grocery store, to the credit union. - Why do you go there? - Something is missing in my life. I don’t really know what. I have very comfortable life. Nobody bother me at my work; I have good connection with my old lady what I take care off. I don’t have any trouble with her daughter. Once a week I buy groceries. In the grocery store service is very good; everyone is polite and friendly. - And what you are missing? - I don’t even know. I went to the grocery store today, and one young lady was looking for a job. Probably they have some openings. Clerk asks her how her English is, and she said not so well. And she stared yelling on her if you don’t know numbers you are not going to work here. So strange that she said numbers; she probably means you don’t know how to count in English. Looks to me a clerk has not very developed Ukrainian language. Other yelling was if you don’t understand how these Moorings talk, you are can’t work here. I am In US for fifty years I can understand how they talk. If I don’t learn language, you don’t learn language either. After that conversation I fill a little bit better, almost like home abuse and insult everywhere. - Do you remember we were in the Chinese restaurant? Woman doesn’t speak English at all. For her soda and souse was the same. But she keeps her job. Only in Ukrainian community we are not welcome. - What is new in the Ukrainian community? - It is not so much. Three guys from Ukraine were in a church. - Not a lot people attend church this time; only elderly people are in the church. Every new person you can see right away. When I step by once in a while always, I can recognize person from Ukraine right away. Are you sure there were guys from Ukraine or maybe there were your guys? - I am positive they were guys from Ukraine because they were in the leather jackets. - What? Your guys don’t wear leather jackets. - No, they don't. - Don’t they afford to buy leather jacket? - Yes, we can afford to buy good cloth, we just don’t buy it. - (Oh, I forgot, for American cloths are not important. I can’t say this aloud, I have to be polite because this is one Ukrainian American person I know. Approximately the same I read in the Ukrainian American newspaper “Svoboda” (freedom). Writer discus some theater// performents//, and complain that with her salary she can’t afford to go to the theater. The tickets to the theater don’t cost fortune, if you want to the theater, just go. You can always cat on some groceries, cloth… Usually American// clothe// full of// close//.) -When I watch TV I am often heard Polish last name //politions//, news//anker//…. But I never heard Ukrainian last names. Did Ukrainian achieve something in this country? It was a big immigration after WWII and even early. - If you want to achieve something in this country you have to change last name? - (Don’t think aloud. What is this not country for all anymore?) Why that? - Nobody know us. Palestinians manage to through stones, in order to catch attention other, but nobody know us. - It is monument Shevchenko in the Washington D.C. - But nobody knows what country he is national poet. - Why you didn’t talk about themselves? - We can talk, but nobody listen. - (What is it not freedom of speech here?) How about Ukrainians in Canada? - Oh, Ukrainians in Canada stands much better they we are here in US. They are organized better; they give children education. - Why you don’t give children education? Ukrainian, especially guys went over all Europe for education. And here universities and colleges are on every corner; you don’t go anywhere, just apply. Education in here is more affordable that in Ukraine even we were not paying tuition. If you want to have education you just have to put some affords. - Oh, well. I don’t have children anyway. - Did you call to the Ukrainian community for help with your problems. - Yes, I call. - What they said? - As usual, insulted and didn’t help. - This supposed to be help line for people who came to this country after communist system collapsed. - They supposed to help, but they never did. - Can you tell in detail about conversation. - Sure, I can. I said that I came to this country more than year ago, and I am not planned to stay here at beginning, but right now //sacamstans// is different and I want to stay here. And I ask what the way to do so is? He said that I can// marry //someone, but it is not necessary this person can live with me. Because in this country if you want to live with someone you can live and if you don’t want to live with someone you don’t have to live. He probably meant that in Ukraine if people are married they stay together because they don’t survive when they separate. Here one person can survive and people even they marred can divorce easily. He doesn’t know me and already decided for me everything. - What did you said? - I hung up. I am sick from Ukrainian….. Why I have talk to them? I can talk to someone who is more polite, who helps me. - Where are you planning to go? - May be to the Polish people. - Do you think they help you? - Probably not, at list they know how to talk; they are more polite. - You are mad on these Ukrainians who live in Ukrainian village. - I personally didn’t see so evil faces in Ukraine what I see here. Looks to me they have the worth life on the planet. One Sunday I ask in the store where a park where Ukrainians celebrate Independence Day is. I heard something in church but can’t catch park’s name in English. And this woman didn’t tell me. What see said ‘Somewhere, here somewhere there, everyone knows’. And I knew a head than it is not any reason to go to this people for help, but I went one more time, and I am not going to them anymore. - You just said this, but one day you go one more time. This is one place where you heir Ukrainian language and you go anyway. - Yes, when I stay here, I am planning to buy home. I already open a bank account. I can’t go to the American bank for loan, better go to bank where you understand what they are saying. It was some years later. - Did they give you mortgage in the Ukrainian bank? - Yes, I have my mortgage in Ukrainian Credit Union. This was first time I noticed that in Ukrainian community to make money is more important than to do something wrong to the // neiybor//. - They probably knew that you can go in other place, and you have twenty percent down payment, and they want to take this money from you. -Anyway, I have enough good mortgage. What else I can worry about? I have to pay anyway. To me it is the same to pay Ukrainian credit union or elsewhere else. This guy took three hundred fifty dollars for closing from me. At first he said three hundred, after that he said, three fifty. Do you know how this cost? I don’t have idea, I hope he is right. - I was taking to friends other day and they said they paid two fifty for closing. Maybe you overpaid. -Anyway I am not going to ask for some money back. He can keep it. He lived here for almost all live, and took some money extra because he knew that I didn’t know how much it cost. Or he just likes to screw up and know that nobody protect me. - Does he is Ukrainian? - Looks to me he is Ukrainian Jew. - Are you sure. - Sure, I am. He has Ukrainian last name, his Ukrainian language like my with all our slags, but he told me some stories about his life, and I am sure he is Jew. - What he told you? - When he was student somewhere in the University many years ago he had health insurance. I don’t really remember what he graduated, but in that time all students had health insurance. And he had some cough, went to the doctor, and doctor told him or stay home or go to the hospital. He said he is doing to go to the hospital; he had free meal in the hospital, enough time to study. And he went to the hospital. I would never go to the hospital for free meal. How about you? - His style of living indicate that he is Jew. Probably it is reason why health insurance cost a lot right now. - You are so funny. - You know, he screwed up you for this closing. - Hundred dollars is not big lost. I didn’t peak that guy, they recommended me in the bank. They probably cooperate with his screw up. - Did they screw up you in the bank? - Sure, they were. - What way? - You know, my living is from pay check to pay check. And I send pay check to the bank and in the same time, I paid all my payments. The deposit in the bank usually is in the next day, and other payments are day after, and checks in the bank are cleared one or two days later. If they didn’t deposit check on my account on time let say week late, all my checks are bouncing. I checked everything on line, and everything go in read, and I didn’t have idea what is happening. I came to the bank and deposit some money from my business account. Next day they deposit my paycheck on my account. In the bank workers had a lot fun. - May be this happened by //exident//. - Oh, yes. This happened to me more than once. And I complain in writing, and I yelled on everyone what possible to be yelled. This people are extremely “sophisticated”. It is better to stay away from them. - Did they screw up you some more? - It was some time I refinance my car loan, and they mix up something. At least I didn’t lost money that time. When you try to have some business with Ukrainians it is always like that. May be they treat only immigrants like that. Oh, who knows? I make my business registrations papers. And they mix up too. They call, and make everything right, and they have to sand paper to the some //buro//; they didn’t send paper, I had some call, and I have to remind them what to do. We are massy people. But to me so strange that for many years these people didn’t learn anything. If I do something wrong this country hit me back right away. May be they only treat me in that way. They made my taxes; they made them right. - They can live how they want; at least it is working for them. Did they help you with a job? You were looking for something more interesting. - They didn’t. Someone gave me telephone number guy who employed people in IT field. I called, I sent resume, I called few more times, and I stopped to call. I can admit that he was one Ukrainian who knows how to talk to people. But anyway he didn’t find job for me. I have to ask someone among American for help, or change my last name on some Irish or Italian, or whatever… - Haw is your work? - Started to make me crazy. Or I going to lost this job (they probably fire me) or I quit. - What they had done to you? - I clean one good house with good tip, and they took this house from me. - This is not big deal. - This is not, but important they expected that I argue with them. - Did you argue with them? - I did not, I still to want keep my job, and it is better to me keep mouth shut. - Did was some more problem? - Sue, it was. I usually give them payment checks, and one day they said that I miss one check. - What you did? - I did nothing. I told them looking for a check, I gave all checks. They make me crazy for all week. And one time I said let look together for all your entries in the book. And in a while they said that they put checks by date, but we clean house few days late because it was some problem. And she looked for check in date when we cleaned the house, not when we suppose to clean. Anyway they create mess and blame me for this. They probably verify what is going to be my reaction because they were so happy when I said that they make me crazy all week. - How long you are planning to keep this job? -If something like this happen one more time, I probably// flicking// out and I quit. - What are you think other place is better? - It is not; but it is chance that you find more intelligent people that let you work. - It is not a lot intelligent people next to you. - Oh, well, let’s hope for the better. -How was your delivery papers for today with first snow? - I started with the car in the ditch, after that everything goes well. - Why in the ditch? -Who knows? My car is so light, and I press brakes, and car moving to the wrong direction, and I didn’t know what to do. It was close to the office, and supervisor ask guys to help; they can’t do anything; they call police; police call towing company; towing guy ask for cash payment; I didn’t have; I came to the office again; they lend me; guy manage to pull my car out of ditch. It was a hell. - And nothing positive didn’t happened? - Always something happened; police officer so young so quit start talking to me. It was dark; he probably doesn’t realize how old I am. - What interesting he said? - He said that they supposed to give two hundred tickets per year for traffic //valuations//. He said something what traps they can put, but I not really paid attention on this. - What is else new in the road with you. - I probably told you about “swap” t-intersection. - I don’t remember. - On my road to delivery newspaper is one t-//interction//. And one night my sleepy eyes didn’t notice and I finished in the middle of the swap. I was thinking I am staying there till morning. And I didn’t know what to do, and I was panic, and I didn’t know to go out to call someone or stay in the car. I try to pull car by myself; it doesn’t work; I try again; it was the same. After that I recall that it is low speed in the car. Engine supposed to have more power with lower speed. (I never understand this in the physic class, but at least I knew that it is like this). I put car r on the low speed, and I pull my car from the swap. Thank all Ford car makes for making such good cars!!! - You always put yourself somewhere. - I am not original in this case. A week ago I noticed trace from the car net to this intersection, and guy who delivered different newspaper in the same rout was looking for me, was looking that I make the same mistake. He didn’t know that I already checked that swap. -How about yours spinning next to light on the snow? - What I can do? I spin one time when started to stop on the red light, and right now I developed habits to go on the yellow light in order don’t hip nobody. - Did you hit someone that time. - No, I was by myself on that intersection; a driver in the car behind me saw my problem and keep good distance. I just hit my car to the curve of sidewalk. If I had to stop rapidly on the light, I would rather go ahead. I already was hit by car in the back, if I start to stop on yellow light; everyone drive on the yellow light. - This is traffic violation. - It is, but usually from two bad choices people choose less one. It is better go on the yellow light than to be hit by the car behind you. I am bad driver, I knew it. Life raises me in this way. - How about your problem at work? Dou you have some? - Sue, I do. Supervisor asks me to deliver one newspaper first because second newspaper was not delivery yet. You know, twice a week I deliver two newspaper. I didn’t go because it is some reason for that. I didn’t want spend twice gas for my rout; I already //feel// my tank twice a week. And I didn’t remember houses where I suppose to deliver second newspaper without first newspaper. I remember my rout like this: This is big house with letter K on garage I have to put first newspaper after that next house goes second newspaper… Without first newspaper it is not reason to go. -Did she was made on you? - Maybe, but I don’t care. If I mix up some delivery I lost one dollar per every paper. In the same time I make fourteen cents per paper. It is better to do work right. - How much do you lost per week for this delivery? - At beginning I lost some money; in a while I was better, but recently lost more than half what I make per day. It was before Christmas; they gave us white bags for newspaper instead of yellow; it was a little bit snow; people didn’t see newspaper and started to call. I didn’t make mistake that time and lost a lot. -Did you explain that you delivery everything? - They know that people sometimes call without any reason. Let say usually husband pick up paper, but one day wife pick up paper. Husband didn’t know and made a call; you have complain and one dollar less. I heard that some people received money back for that day, but she was mad because I didn’t listen to her, and I lost money. But I didn’t ask. If something wrong this country hit back right away. And they don’t like complaints because they have to deliver this newspaper by themselves. But for American don’t give piece of bread, but dive possibility to complain. They are spoiled by services; they pay money; they expect good service. I apply for a job, I have this job. - How long are you planned to keep that job. - This job is enough good because you are one person who is responsible what you are doing. But it is difficult because you work outside. One day was so big rain; I don’t even expect that someone come. But everyone was present and newspaper was delivered. If I find something to work inside, I quit. I have to work somewhere anyway. - Why do you ask me to make boxes in this way, if they explain to me how to make boxes in that way? Why you training me like that. In a while you I going to complain that I don’t know how to do it. I am going to supervisor to complain on you before you are going to complain on me. - Why do you ask me to go to clean buckets on that machine under the gates; you know that we don’t suppose to go there if the gates are closed? You know if someone saw me, I am going to lose my job. What you attend to do? You forth me to do wrong, after that I am going to lose my job. You are so smart. - What do you calculate here? -We calculate percent of crap. - How are you doing? - Take number of crap boxes divide on the number of good boxes, and multiply by hundred. - You was bookkeeper in Poland and you are telling me to calculate percent of scrap like this? -What is wrong with this? - And you pretend that you are dummy and force me to do wrong. What do you sink I don’t know how to calculate percent? - What you are planned to do so? - And you probably don’t know? Calculate number all boxes; number of good boxes add number of crap; divide number of crap boxes on number of all boxes and multiply by hundred. - You can do that way. - Why everyone so nasty to me? - You mix up density on color in the order what you start at Saturday. - I mix up nothing. I put density what was in our paper. - You can look. It is much lower number. You mix up with other order. - I mix up nothing; I put what was in paper. - What you are saying, I put wrong number. Why I will do it? - Sure you did it. You want that I lost job, what you are doing. I already know this. (So strange, I already heard this? This was some documentary about //mm// Bonzy crim ///. Twenty years ago he was already under investigation and gets rid from trouble with words “Why he will be doing it like this. He is in business for twenty years…” How it is possible that this uneducated woman can be connected to so sophisticated skim? Most important don’t talk aloud. She just can repeat what someone told her to do. She is not able to come out with something like this. Maybe they received instruction from the same source? I heard this phrase before. It was discussion about mmm resignation and who leak some information on him. It was some possible choices. And one of these sources was news anchor; she said why I will do it. It is a lot reason. Let say it can be done for many reasons; one reason is career, another is money, or in order to survive.) - Why do you have more per hour than I have? I have more sonority than you; I have higher position than you. Oh, let this question to be rhetoric; you don’t go with guys behind the wall; you have to be happy what you have; guys supposed to pay in some way; they don’t make much better than you; they just ask for raise favorite persons. You are not “favorite” person; you know it; keep mouth shut. - Why do you have more per hour than I have? I have more sonority than you; I have higher position than you. You are supervisor; I am not. They make me crazy all time; put some traps that I can’t do it. I take some parts not everything because I don’t have a lot time to spend on one machine, after that maybe I come with some solution. That Polish guy think he is so smart; even he is it is not mean my education is worth than his. Oh, maybe I press some buttons on that computer and it started to work; or maybe I take two boxes and find all parts what I need it; or maybe machine will be shut down and I don’t have to do anything. -How fast did you ever drive on the high way? - I tested how fast my car is going to go, and I //rich// oven one hundred miles per hour. - You are insane. Are you was scared? - I told you, I want to know how fast my car is going to go. - Did police catch you? - Sure, they did. - Did you have ticket? - No, that time I didn’t. I look so innocent, they let me go. - Where do you have high way to reach speed like this? - On the south part of the city you can drive faster. On the way the city you can go so fast; you can lose control of the car. How about you? - I can go over eighty miles per hour only if I don’t look on speedometer. - Where did drive so fast? Did police stop you? - I usually drive so fast on my way to the beach. It is speed limit on that pert of road seventy or even seventy five miles per hour. I didn’t exceed speed a lot, and nobody stop me yet on this part of high way. How was your fist ride on high way? - It was not so bad. I recall Bitlls song …exit to the East… exit to the West… I never understand this song at home; here it is so clear. Do you know this song? -I am not a lot to the music. I don’t know this song. - How was your first ride? - It was terrifying? It was raining, and I was not sure where I was going. I took high way, and I was thinking that car is giving me a ride, but not I am driving a car. I was blaming all American for creating such high ways; how it was possible to come out with this idea, and how it is possible to drive car with this speed. - What was speed when you drive? - I drive sixty miles per hour. I was looking on the side of the road; it was fifty five miles per hour; everyone next to me was so //nervous// and pass over me with higher speed. It was big truck next to me; I was thinking he is going to crash me even truck was on the line next to me. When other truck appeared on another side from me, I” have to reduce speed in order trucks passes me. It was like driving in the tunnel. How it is possible to drive everyday likes this. This is truck driver job for almost every day eight or even ten or twelve hours per day. - In a while you use to it. People usually exceed speed limit by ten miles. Does car still drive you or you dive car. - I am more comfortable to drive car. You can drive over eighty miles per over if you are not comfortable with driving. Do you have a lot traffic tickets? - I had one bad accident. This is my major problem on the road. It was bad weather; it was snow… How about you? - I am very unlucky in this case (and more others). I am almost permanent student in the traffic school. How Americans say you have privilege to drive; you have to pay for this. We have to follow their rules. - What you are doing today? - I was discovered America. -What did you discover? - I discover three way light bulbs. Do you know about this? You can switch from lower watts to higher by moving switcher on table lamp; it was at least in the house where I am living. - Why this surprise you? It is typical //rheostat//. -Did you know this at home? I didn’t know. This surprise me because I came to this country in my //thirties, and I am never imagine that something surprise me at all. And in bedroom it is not switcher at //all; you just move from lower light to brighter. You can create lovely environment if you need it. - Do you really need lovely environment if it is nobody next to you? -I am just telling you. Why you are so bitter? -I just miss home. What else you discover? -I discover concrete truck. Construction workers fixed sidewalk; and concrete from truck was //pooled// exactly where it supposed to be// pooled//. And after that even tube was washed in order concrete didn’t hardened. You know how it is in our home people mix stones with cement and water by shovels, and a lot mess, and a lot clean up after that; and usually women is doing that job. Here it is difficult job; but they make it much easy. -Is it something else? -It always is something else. You know that guy what family I work for is driving Mercedes convertible. And she explains to me one more time, and I was thinking ‘Why she force me to go into that wall; maybe I am first time in this airport, but I am not stooped. It is wall in front of me.’ And I was looking for someone who is going to be in front of me. And here he is; tall black guy full of dignity fallow the arrows and go to the wall and “Sesame Opens”; and wall is moving; and it is other hall behind that door or wall. And I am with my six feet height, who is always looking on people from up to the down, follow that guy and I am only half of him. -It was very interesting case with me; let say it was “Sesame Open” case. Did they surprise you? -I had girlfriend when she came first time to the department store she was impress by clothe for kids. She said I want one more child. It was strange to me because she already has a child, and when I ask why this /strange/ idea came to her mind; she said you see how nice kids can be dressed. When she looked on prices she cool off a little bit. You can be dressed extremely well if you spend the same money what you have to spent to dress children. And it was question like this ‘Does “big brother” never mind?’ It looks that something stands behind our system; that people in our party didn’t manage our country. - Why do you worry about this? You can’t make any changes anyway. - It looks to me that everything what was put in our mind in school is far from reality. -Oh, well. Enjoy what you have. - What do you think major Americans problem is? - According to the TV first problem is ‘Where to have lunch?’ and second ‘How to loose wait?’ All network’s channels have a “food” segment. What they discus? What to eat, where to eat, how to cook; how to count calories. And this is every day and a few times a day; after that is how to loose wait from simple reduce calories and at least go for a walk to the more drastic like surgery. Evan it is more than one type of surgery; one is to reduce size of stomach; another is to put some bundles on tubs… Not even mention number of pills they have to loose wait. They have big choices of cuisine and very big choices to loose wait. Everyone has a job from cooks to researches and surgeons. - What do you think obesity is not problem? - Sure, it is. They will not play big loser game, if it was not a problem. I read about diet in the newspaper one day. And if I ate like they offer for diet, I would gain some wait. - Not everyone like you don’t like to eat and for this reason you not really like to cook. - I have to eat something anyway because nobody takes care about me and because it is not mom next to me who put meal on front of me and ask to eat. I learn more how to cook next to my girlfriend; she couldn’t eat twice the same, and she cooked everyday something different. I am not so// peaky// I can eat the same. During month or even less I had lunch in the fast food restaurant, and I gained extra wait, and so strange even I started to cook for myself again I had hard time to loose wait. I heard something like this on the news, and in that time it can be true. But it was real. - Maybe you have hard time to loose wait because you are much older now. - Yes, if you are younger everything came easy, if you older everything is more difficult. To me gain wait was a problem, to loose wait was easy just skip some meals in evening and lost wait. Why we don’t have “food” segments on our TV? - Do you remember innocent program on radio ‘Good Morning’ with jokes and songs? -I remember. But what this can do to the “food” segments. -During our ‘glasnost’ they tell this can’t have any jokes with include word ham because program was running on the all country and many in the country didn’t know what this is. - Don’t even mention that you never see ham in the store. Thanks God still was something on the let say farmers market. What else problems Americans have? - I always was wondering when they discus weather in the winter and what to wear. It always sounds that winter come to the city first time and people don’t know to put something extra on. - Did you see people here in shorts when snow is outside? - Sure I saw. But from house to the car and from the car to the store or somewhere else it is not big deal. I use to put much more layers on; but right now I am more comfortable with Americans style of living, and I simplify my dressing code. - Are you wearing different type of close than home? - Sue, I still have coats or jackets on every season, but under jackets light T-shirt in major case. I hate to wear pants, but here you have to wear what everything else wearing. At least it is comfortable to wearing pants or shorts. I am never managing to walk in the city in shorts. But it is here what is comfortable. May be if I had different style of living, I would wear different//cloath//. - This country doesn’t offer red carpet style of living, and red carpet //clouth// ether. We have what we have. -How was your day today? -It was normal. Just they ask me to put grapes and orange next to sandwich, and I don’t understand what they want. Do you ever eat grapes with ham or other meat? -I don’t eat fruits with meat. Here they have fruits and vegetables //whole // year they can eat what they want to. We eat meat with pickles, horse radish, and mustard. I ate exotic sandwich many years ago; it was fish from can with lemon. -Where do you find something like? -I was in almost royal palaces in Sankt Petersburg, and had some snack in// Ermitage//. -It was good? - It was very good. Fish and lemon fit together well. You can try to do red fish with garlic, oil, and lemon juice; it is very good. -I try. - How are your “grandpa” and “grandma”? Are they still in love? - As usual, he still read and understands everything well; she is after stoke and understand a little. But every morning he is telling her what day it is; I am not sure that after stroke she understand him well. And every evening he is kissing her hands before go to bed. - It is love one in the thousand years from school years. -Probably it is love, but she is his second wife. What was your day? -My “grandma” was normal today, but few days ago were asking for purse to go to the store. This probably happened not first time because they kept wallet for her in this occasion. -What did you do. She can’t walk. - I gave her wallet, and she calm down a little bit. She sometimes understand her condition and usually tell that she had a lot much better days in her life, but sometimes confuse. Her son was visited her few weeks ago, and had broken leg. She said that her brother came from WWI. She is in her nineties, after stroke she is not so good, but she has pacemaker, and hard still running. -How you relatives treat you? -At beginning was very good. I came I didn’t speak language at all. I memorize few sentenced to make some impressions on them. But in a while that realize that my English is so bad. I usually make intelligent //gas// what they are saying. If I recognize major word in sentenced I can answer at least appropriate answer. But sometimes I recognize not important word, and my ”intelligent” //gas// in not intelligent at all. But I am glad that they let me work here. They dictionary for me, they help me to go the library. But something happened, I started irritate them; they always looking for something. -What they looking for? - I don’t know. They told me why I bought ice cream? I didn’t even buy ice cream; I bought sour cream, I was planned to cook vegetables. - They what that you quit your job; probably someone put them against you. What you said to them. - I said nothing; I play full; I don’t understand English. So far I want to keep this job; or they //fired// me or I find something more interesting. How your girlfriend is doing? -She is OK. She is working for almost perfect family. On Easter they trim all fat from the ham and try to through away. And she was yelling what you are doing why you though food away. It is the same how I was in some trouble because was some fat in the soup. -You know, Americans die healthy; we can die sick. It is much better to die from diseases later in life that die from starvation the young age. Why you said that they are almost perfect family? - You know Americans very proud how they live; they know what they are going. And family is good just //instead// of slippers she is wearing snickers at home. You can tell American that they are wrong in something because you have big chance to lost job. They are mocking us a little bit; we a mocking them a little bit. -We have to relax in some way. -How is your new job? -It is hell. I am driving hundred miles per day and don’t have any //appreciation// from them. -What appreciation do you need? They give you a raise; you work more hours. What else do you need? -I just tired; let make American approach to the problem; look positive. -Did you find something positive? - Why not? I vacuumed floor in offices to day and it was tie on the floor; I pick up tie, and it was silk tie; I never see like this before. For some reason I not even look what they is selling; and I look on men suits; and suit make from fabric that combines wool and silk. It has texture as wool what hold the shape of men suit, and soft as silk. -How much it costs? -Probably it cost thousand. Do you want something for your guys; I can ask. -Mu guys are good without suits like that. What else is interesting I houses do you clean? - Always can pick somewhere. -Where are you picking? -I am not picking, I just dusting furniture. Do you remember we saw in the store tiny //board//? We did have idea what people put in there. And this tiny //board// is for jewelry. -Did was expensive jewelry where you was picking. -It was a lot; but it was not very expensive. You are right, I picked in invitation on the birthday party to celibate fifties anniversary in the trip to the Italy. I try to convince my sister to put goal like this, but she not supports me. Fifty anniversary we don’t make it, but sixty maybe we can do it. But she said it never happened. You will be glad to go to celebrate holidays like this? - I will be glad to go, but it is never happened. What else do you learn about people’s life? -That answering machines they have prom sixties and they were size of the shoe box or even boots box. This guy house I was talking you about has I this it is purple hart from WWII. People had lives behind them. -You don’t want tell something nasty about them? -What I can say nasty; people who use cleaning services take care about their houses; make good money. Yes, can something one young lady keep her closets extremely neat and organized well, but house with dog look like a hell. But this is not my business, I clean, I have paid; I have good tip. It was one house extremely bad they planned put house on the sale and ask to clean. They probably live in that house for two years and never dusted. But well; it is their problem and not mine. Or one house that people never wash floor in the kitchen, and it takes for hours to //scrab// it. -Why that decided to clean? -Someone order that service for them.
