Hutsul Ceramics


The Kolomyia's collection of ceramics have exhibits from the end of XVIII century
to the modern days.


The major features collection from Kolomyia's region are their herbal and
geometric topics: leaves, twigs, circles, springs . The collection is simple
and made in green and brown colors with light background. You can see plates
and candlestick made unknown author at the end of XVIII century. The candle holder
made by I.Slovaskyi at the end of XIX century and the vase and plate made
by K. Sanoitsa (1911-1945) at 1930.

In the XIX century the village Pystyn' in Kosiv region
became the center of development ceramics. D. Zintiuk and P.Koshack were two famous
artists from this village. Special features in works made by D.Zintiuk are his
geometric and herbal ornaments, images animals and birds, pictures of people's
life. You can see plate "Madonna" and tiles "Woman with Glass", "Two Goats on the
Bridge" made by D. Zintiuk in the middle of XIX century. P. Koshack's works combined
traditions from village Pystyn' and Kosiv. He created plates, bowls, vases, and
sculptures. His drawing consist from herbal and animalistic figures which are clear
grown and dynamic lain on the surface of his works. You can see his works pitchers
and plate "the Deer's Family" made at the beginning of XX century.

The museum has collections artists of XX century. of M. Tymiak (1889-1970) is
one of them. Her works contain floral, and herbal ornaments and made on the dark
brown background in white, yellow, and green colors. You can see bowl and pitcher
were made by M. Tymiak in 1955. One of the famous artist in ceramics was P. Tsvilyk
(1891-1964). She continued to develop traditions from the past, and her works decorated
by herbal, animalistic ornaments and contain pictures of people's life. You can see
her vase, bowl, cups made in 1956. Her daughter S. Zaiachuk and granddaughter
N. Verbivs'ka continue this tradition. The candle holder made by S.Zaiachuk in 1972,
and vases and soup bowl made by N.Verbivs'ka in 1977.

The museum has collections young generation artists from Kolomyia region. The collection
in brown and green was made in 1988 by L.Tsybul's'ka and collection in brown and white was
made by V.Kahnikevych, M.Kahnikevych , and N.Nykorovych in 1988.
