This is a Roger Brown poster announcing the 1986 Chicago International Art Exposition at Navy Pier. I recently donated an original print of this poster to the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Liberal Arts (LAS). Navy Pier was the original location of the two year undergraduate division of the University of Illinois that became UIC. I am a member of the UIC LAS Class of 1967. I attended UIC in its Navy Pier days.

The Beighley-Stavy House

WindPower 2009, Chicago, IL
|
|
Henry B Beighley built this attractive Gothic cottage in 1882. It is one of the few nineteenth century brick houses in Georgetown. Mr. Beighley was a business man in the area. He owned a transportation company, silver mine and a stable near Floyd Hill. Years went by and the house was sold to the Zaks family. Recently it was sold to Michael Stavy. Anybody who knows who owned the house after the Beighleys and before the Zaks please contact Michael Stavy. This watercolor was painted by William H Condit, the nationally known Colorado artist.

Old Corn Crib on farm in the Mendota Hills of Illinois near the Mendota Hills Wind Plant. This structure was used to store corn (in an un-shelled state) over the winter and spring seasons allowing a natural drying process. The crib style construction allows wind to flow through the structure and dry the corn. After adequate drying, the corn would be used by the farmer for feed or shelled and shipped to a grain elevator at some point when the market was favorable. Today corn is dried in large, natural gas-fired grain driers where shelled corn is batch feed or continuously flowed through the drier and then stored in a grain bin. Today the wind is used to power the Mendota Hills Wind Plant.

This is an allée of trees on Route N-7, the old Provence road to the Cote d' Azur (Mediterranean coast). Route N-7 is France’s Route 66. Impeccable French sources have told me that there is even a song about Route N-7.

Two Colorado Neighbors having a picnic on the current Guanella Pass Road. My clients are very concerned that if the Central Federal Lands Highway Division gets its way and the Division does not follow the recommendations of the Mt.Evans Chapter of the Sierra Club the Guanella Pass Road will be open all year and large recreational vehicles, and even 18 wheelers and gas tankers might come up the pass and ruin their life style.

This are a view of the Marina City Condominium Towers, [River North, Chicago, Illinois] looking south from the corner of Clark and Hubbard. I have proposed to the Board of the Marina City Condominium Association that I develop a solar PV wall to be put around each six story core tower on the top of each tower. The solar PV wall will generate electricity for the building. You can see the core tower on the top of each residential tower.

This student was in one of my 1991 Personal Finance and Consumer Economics Courses. I tired to caution the students and to be "buyer beware" in handling their personal finances (budgeting, taxes, retirement, pensions, insurance, employee benefits, pensions and investments)
