Michael STAVY, Energy Economist

The Annual Meeting of the American Economics Association (AEA) was held 6-8 Jan 2012 in Chicago, IL. I live in Chicago. I attended the annual meetings. Many economists were impressed that a photo of me was on the walls of the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC) at the same time as the annual meeting. This was a coincidence (i.e.a randon event). I am a retired (29 years, tenured, full-time) Economics Professor from the College of DuPage (COD), Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Check my short form CV below. ↓↓↓

I attended the Chicago meeting as a regular attendee. I did not present any papers nor did I sit on any panels.

Currently, I a consulting energy economist. I just use my updated lecture notes from my micro (COD), macro (COD), money and banking (COD), international finance (UIC, ESA), personal finance (UIC) and consumer economics (COD) courses to help my clients.

The Beighley-Stavy House

Henry B Beighley built this attractive Gothic cottage in 1882. It is one of the few nineteenth century brick houses in Georgetown, CO.

Mr. Beighley was a business man in the area. He owned a transportation company, silver mine and a stable near Floyd Hill.

Years went by and the house was sold to the Zaks family. In 1999, it was sold to Michael Stavy.

Anybody who knows who owned the house after the Beighleys and before the Zaks please contact Michael Stavy.

**Source: My American Economic Principles-I & II Course Lecture Notes developed over 29 years of teaching at the college level in Glen Ellyn, Chicago and in France. In the term M₁StavY , M₁ is the money supply and Y is Gross National Product (Gross National Income).

This is another student drawing (doodle) of me. This student was in one of my Winter Quarter 1991 Econ 110, Personal Finance and Consumer Economics, Courses.

I tried to caution my students to be �buyer beware� in handling their personal finances (budgeting, taxes, retirement, health insurance, employee benefits, pensions and investments). It looks like it's still a jungle out there in the real world. The May 7, 2011 Wall Street Journal article, When Benefits Bite Back, had the sub headline, From pensions to health coverage, employees may not get what they were promised-even if they have it in writing.
