Newspapers receive so many Letters to the Editor each day that not all qualified letters can be published. 

Let me quantify my statement.  If we assume that the New York Times,  Wall Street Journal and Chicago Tribune each receive just 2,000 letters per week, that  half the letters are worth publishing, and that only 5% of the letters are published,  50 letters would have to be published by each newspaper each week [or 7.14 letters per day on a 7 day a week publication schedule].

As a public service,  I have put certain of my unpublished Letters to the Editor on my web site for the public to read.

Disclaimers: 

1.  The editor may not have actually received my letter.

2.  The editor may not agree that my letter was a letter worth publishing, even if space were available.

3.  The editor may have received other letters that the editor considers more worth while to publish.

4.  The links to the article that I have written Letter to the Editor about may require a fee to view the article, itself.

5.   The articles, themselves, remain the property of their respective copyright owners.
