I was a member of a Fact Finding Delegation that went to Germany, 17-21 September 2012, to study the topic: Innovations in Energy Efficient City Transit. The Delegation was sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and by the German/American Chambers of Commerce (AHK).
The Delegation visited Karlsruhe, Stuttgart and Berlin. In Karlsruhe, the Delegation visited the Fraunhofer Institution for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) and Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe GmbH (KVV). In Stuttgart, we visited “Stuttgart 21”and the Institute for Railroad and Transportation Engineering at the University of Stuttgart. In Berlin, we visited the Bombardier Factory, the InnoTran 2012 Trade Fair and Deutsche Bahn (DB) International.
Increasing the energy efficiency of US city transit is a climate change mitigation strategy that will improve the US Balance of Trade.

Readers who are interested in learning what I have found out about increasing the energy efficiency of US urban transit should set up an appointment. I was in Germany until 29 Sept. At a client's request I would return.
I also attended the InnoTrans Trade Fair ( http://www.innotrans.de/en/ ) 18-21 Sept in Berlin.
