COP 15 (Copenhagen 2009) did not design an ambitious post-Kyoto (2013) climate change mitigation agreement. An ambitious US climate change mitigation program will start to significantly reduce to dangers of excess carbon in the atmosphere. China recently stated that it would have serious climate change mitigation program.  COP 17 will be held 28 Nov-9 Dec 2011 in Durban, South Africa. Unless extended at COP 17, the Kyoto Protocol will exprire on 31 Dec 2012.

Michael specializes in helping clients with the drafting of serious, ambitious climate change mitigation treaties.  Michael is no "Johnny-come-late" to this work.  For his American high school science project (1961-Niles Township High School, Skokie, IL), he tried to grow algae. The algae were not too helpful. He read the Club of Rome report when it came out.  He though about energy policy while he was an E-3 in the USAR 308th Civil Affairs Unit. To learn more about Michael go to Michael Stavy's Background

Michael has written 8 papers on climate change mitigation.  In 2000, Michael wrote his first climate change mitigation paper An Analysis of the Policies Required to Earn Carbon (CO2) Emissions Credits When Generating Electricity at Wind Power Plants American Wind Energy Association, Washington, DC, WINDPOWER 2000, Palm Springs, CA., May 2, 2000.  To learn about his 7 other climate change mitigation papers, go to Consulting on Climate Change Mitigation, the Kyoto Protocol, Carbon Trading and the Carbon Tax  To read the abstracts for Michael's 30 published papers/presentations go to Abstracts of Michael Stavy's Published Papers and Presentations
