TORNADO DESTRUCTION

A tornado in southern Maryland that killed three people and left a "war zone" of destruction in its wake was one of the strongest to ever hit the state, a National Weather Service spokeswoman said Monday. After completing an aerial survey of the 24-mile path of the tornado that hit Sunday night, Barbara Watson classified it as F4 on the Fujita Scale -- with wind ranging from 207 mph to 260 mph -- only one step below the highest category.
