The Extended Coaching Team
Your student and their SOS coach will draw upon an extended support team as needed. Other SOS Coaches, parents, teachers and experienced professionals make up this expert team.
SOS Coaches
SOS Coaches meet regularly to discuss cases and share ideas, drawing upon many years of experience from a wide variety of schools in the Bay Area. SOS coaches are required to take regular training, allowing them to stay up to date with current ideas and tools for enhancing academic success - and also to feel what it's like to be a student!
Parental Support
Coaches are in regular contact with parents, typically over the phone or via email. By prior arrangement , they can also meet with the parents in person.
Coaches are trained to assist parents with communication issues involving their teens and academics as well as to provide assistance in helping parents help students become successful and independent learners.
Parents are asked not to use the student’s coaching time for discussions or questions.
Teachers and Other Professionals
To facilitate long term /ongoing benefits of coaching it may be necessary for the coach to be in touch with the student’s teachers, resource specialists or therapists. Parents will be asked to sign a release permitting such contact and will need to notify professionals of the agreement (and coaching sessions).
Referrals
SOS is happy to provide referrals for other services include testing, social skills groups, therapy and behavioral pediatrics.
