How does digital compare to film?
It's a matter of taste. In the professional photography arena the film based photographers are a niche market. I compare it to McDonald’s vs. Burger King. They both are hamburgers, they’re not the same, and some people prefer one over the other. When doing portraits, use the one that you like the best, or that can do what you need done, retouching, for example.

What are the benefits of using a digital system?

With this technology, we can replace closed eyes with open ones making a family portrait in which everyone looks as good as possible. One of the most common problems parents face is the challenge of keeping the child from getting any scratches, bumps, or bruises before picture day. By choosing Signature Studio's digital system you won't have to worry anymore. Most bumps, bruises, scratches etc... can be eliminated. In fact, simple retouching is included in the price of your portraits. At additional charges, we can do whatever it takes to make a good portrait great, including; opening closed eyes, and changing facial expressions. The digital system also enables us to create beautiful fantasy portraits.another of the benefits of using a digital system are that you can have more portraits taken in a session, and the portraits that are taken can be printed in color, black & white, or sepia tones. This gives you more flexibility and allows you to have the memorable portrait that you desire.

What is your sitting fee?

Signature Studios has a $35 session fee. We allow an hour for each session. Additional time may be available, but most small children have a limited attention span so it is rarely needed. Most of our children's portrait sessions, however, don’t pay a session fee in cash at all. We have an ongoing program with local children's homes & food banks where we will waive the session fee in exchange for a donation of 7 or more non-perishable food items that we will then donate. This program is one of the things we are most proud of: We donate over 3 tons of food to them each year. Y’all help out now, y’hear?

Can we bring our pet?

Generally, yes, we don’t care if your baby has 2 or 4 legs. Some of them, (horses for example) we only photograph outdoors.

Can you restore these faded/ damaged family pictures?

Yes, with reservations. A significant amount of our annual income is generated by restoration, however, recent changes in the copyright laws which protect professional photographs, make it a challenge to determine which ones we can do what to. Each job has to be individually evaluated as to price and legality. On the plus side, this evaluation is done at no charge.

How long do we have to place an order?

I don’t have an answer because I still have every image I’ve shot since going digital. We archive the digital images on CDs and DVDs so those will be available as long as the format is around. One thing I have noticed though, is that “sometime” never gets here. For the people with larger desires than wallets, we offer payment plans.

Can we bring our own props for the session?

YES! We encourage everyone to personalize their portrait session by including family keepsakes. We have a variety of different backgrounds and props, but it is recommended that you bring toys, books, or other items that are special to you and your child. This provides another link to family history in these increasingly mobile times.

How much will the portraits cost?

At Signature Studios we do not sell our portraits in packages because we feel this places too many limitations on clients. Instead, our portraits are sold by the sheet. A sheet consists of one 8 x 10, two 5 x7's, four 4 x 5's, four 3.5 x 5's, three 4 x 6's or eight wallets. This allows you to purchase only the portraits you need. The price of a sheet is on a sliding scale depending on the number of sheets you purchase. 5 or more sheets are $30 each. 10 or more drop to $25. There are other price points for more or fewer sheets. The printable CD option is (currently, 2006) $150. A printable CD in addition to a portrait order varies with the size of the order, to a low of $25. Please feel free to call the studio for more information or a complete price list.
