The purpose of the SCDP, Inc.'s Small Contractor Development Program (Program) is the successful development of small and minority owned businesses
Therefore, the accomplishments of the Program must be measured through identifiable standards of performance that produce quantifiable results.
These results for the Program are the attainment of the established participation goals for small and M/WBE owned firms. This would provide a guaranteed number of small and minority firms pre-qualified for surety bonding and working capital support and eligible to participate in specific construction projects as contractors, subcontractors, vendors or suppliers.
Elements of the Program
The Program offers the necessary range of support services to accomplish its established goals and objectives. These include:
Conduct of an outreach program
Assessment of contractor capabilities
Provision of training and technical assistance
Development of a surety bond program
Provide working capital support
Provision of contractor monitoring
Conclusion
As these small and M/WBE firms establish a positive work record, they become increasingly independent and successful in competing for contract opportunities. SCDP, Inc. believes that this process can create and enlarge the pool of qualified small and minority contractors. In turn, these firms contribute to a strengthened local economy by creating new jobs and economic re-investment in their communities.
