Andrea Riccio, Managing Solicitor - Registered Trade-mark Agent

Born and raised in Calgary, Andrea founded the predecessor firm in 1994.  He personally advises clients with business, real estate, intellectual property and succession planning issues.  His passion lies in helping clients build strong personal and business relationships and coming up with innovative ways to structure transactions.

Andrea understands how clients think.  He knows that every transaction has a window of opportunity that can be missed when faced with untimely legal delays or over-lawyering.  Transactions should be about the people, not the paper.  His role is to help clients assess and manage risks and opportunities, not to bury people under mounds of paper and legal jargon.  This is a rare and valuable quality that has won the respect and long-term loyalty of his clients.

After graduating with distinction from the University of Calgary, Faculty of Management, Andrea received his law degree from the University of Alberta in 1988.  He also attended McGill University, Faculty of Law as a visiting student.  He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1990 and practiced for a Bay Street firm in Toronto, Canada, working primarily on commercial real estate transactions, eventually becoming a partner of the firm.  He was called to the Alberta Bar in 1994 and gained extensive experience in a broad range of corporate and commercial matters through his association with a local Calgary firm.  His belief that "better people make better lawyers" led him to found the Kre8tive Law Group.  Andrea is also a registered Trade-mark Agent.

Andrea has lectured on a variety of topics from the internet, to real estate issues and business succession planning and was a learning group facilitator for the Law Society of Alberta's CPLED Program.

Andrea is actively involved in several non-profit organizations including the Italian-Canadian community at a local, regional and national level.  He previously served as a national director of the National Congress of Italian-Canadians Foundation and is currently serving a fourth term as President of the Calgary Italian Club.  He also provides pro bono legal services to numerous non-profit organizations.

Andrea is married and has a lovely 12 year old daughter.  He enjoys playing and coaching soccer (BFUT- Instituto Brasileiro de Futebol - D License), golfs ridiculously poorly and, when time permits, is in the process of writing his first book, tentatively titled Reunion.
