Some firms offer special membership deals that allow members to download a certain number of tracks 'free' after a joining fee is paid. Some companies offer their service to PC/WINDOWS users only, others are MAC and PC compatible and only a small number of companies such as EMUSIC are compatible for MAC, PC and LINUX users.

Apple i-Tunes Music Store Apple's i-Tunes Music Store has become incredibly popular following its launch in 2003, especially with users of the revolutionary i-Pod. At present, CDs and tracks are available for purchase by Mac and PC users in the USA only; people from other countries can preview songs and albums and a full international sales service will follow in early 2004.
