Tomoko Katao

 

In 1998 I received a phone call from a gentlemen who was inquiring about our Hawaiian Quilting Class for a friend.  He explained to me that he had a friend that was very interested in the "Art of Hawaiian Quilting".  He audited our class and several months later Tomoko Kato became part of The Poakalani Hawaiian Quilting Family.  Tomoko Kato is one of the few people I met that had a passion and goal not only to learn Hawaiian quilting but also to become an expert.  Over the years Tomoko had studied Hawaiian Quilting and Designing in our class and also took other classes to further expand her knowledge in sewing. Recently she qualified as a 1st grade color coordinator.  Her patience has paid off and today Tomoko Kato has not only became part of our quilting class but she has now become a master quilter and certified Hawaiian quilt instructor. 

 

I must say I'm very proud to have Tomoko as part of our quilting class.  When in Hawaii she is always teaching at our classes  and acting as our personal translator.  Thank you Tomoko for your dedication and especially your friendship.  For those who are interested in taking classes from Tomoko in Japan she can be found at:
