Kimi Kumagai

It is always our pleasure to introduce a quilter who has not only learned the intricate techniques of Hawaiian quilting but who has also learned its history and culture. Kimi started quilting with Poakalani several years ago. She already knew the fine techniques of sewing but was ready to learn the techniques of Hawaiian quilting and within the last year she has also learned to design her own quilts. We are very proud that she has earned Poakalani's two highly sought after certificates. One certificate for Quilting and the other for Teaching. Kimi now teaches in Japan. If you want to learn Hawaiian quilting, Kimi is one of the best instructors in fact she taught a Poakalani Hawaiian quilting class the art of making a Hawaiian quilted bag . Kimi teaches at Quilt Salon Na Lani Kuiki *
