| Heel Stabilizer - A foot orthosis
that incorporates not only the plantar pedis but also the medial and lateral
aspects of the rearfoot and/or midfoot. These devices are made to
following specifications:
Type A
 
Deep Heel Seat - to a height just inferior to the lateral
maleolus
Lateral Flange -to just proximal to the base of the fifth metatarsal
Medial Flange - to the mid-point of the first metatarsal shaft
Distal Plantar Edge - ending at the mid-point of the first ray medially
and just proximal to the base of the fifth metatarsal laterally
Type B

Deep Heel Seat - to a height just inferior to the lateral maleolus
Lateral Flange - to just proximal to the base of the fifth metatarsal
Medial Flange - Full medial flange extending onto the first metatarsal
shaft
Distal Plantar Edge - to the bisection of the first and fifth metatarsal
heads
Type C
 
Deep Heel Seat - to a height just inferior to the lateral maleolus
Lateral Flange -to the mid-shaft of the fifth metatarsal
Medial Flange - Full medial flange extending onto the first metatarsal
shaft
Distal Plantar Edge - to the bisection of the first and fifth metatarsal
heads
Type D- promotes out-toeing
 
Deep Heel Seat - to a height just inferior to the lateral maleolus
Lateral Flange - to just proximal to the base of the fifth metatarsal
Medial Flange - to the mid-point of the first metatarsal shaft
Distal Plantar Edge - ending at the mid-point of the first ray medially
and at the end of the fifth toe laterally.
Type E - promotes in-toeing
 
Deep Heel Seat - to a height just inferior to the lateral maleolus
Lateral Flange - to just proximal to the base of the fifth metatarsal
Medial Flange - to the mid-point of the first metatarsal shaft
Distal Plantar Edge - ending at the mid-point of the fifth metatarsal
ray laterally and at the sulcus of the hallux medially.
