Forefoot Platform- A flat plane created across the metatarsal heads on a positive representation of the foot.  At its proximal aspect, the forefoot platform blends into the plantar aspect of the foot at  the metatarsal shafts, and is constructed so that the platform extends proximal to the proximal aspect of the first and fifth metatarsal heads. The distal leading edge of the orthotic device either meets the plane of the platform, or extends onto the plane of the platform. The leading edge of the finished device ends just proximal to the first and fifth metatarsal heads.
