How Can Podiatry Support the Prescription Foot Orthotic Laboratory Association? The PFOLA has been working since 1990 to develop and assure quality standards for prescription foot orthotic laboratories. This has been achieved by developing a rigorous laboratory Accreditation process through the Board for Accreditation of Prescription Foot Orthotic Laboratories - BAPFOL; through continuing education requirements; and by fostering improvements in orthotic science and technology. Additionally, the PFOLA is a co-organizer of the International Conferences on Foot Biomechanics & Orthotic Therapy, in conjunction with podiatric education institutions and related biomechanics organizations. Pursuant to our mission statement, we are working hard to continuously improve the efficacy & awareness of functional foot orthotics to the professional foot care community, third-party providers, and the public at large.
How Can You Support the Mission of PFOLA? First, by choosing prescription foot orthotic laboratories that are BAPFOL Accredited facilities - they are the only laboratories permitted to display the Seal shown here. Second, by letting your insurance carriers, HMOs, and other managed care organizations know that you use the services of an Accredited facility.
And finally, if your current orthotic provider is not Accredited, urge them to apply for BAPFOL Accreditation today! They will be joining the other 33 laboratories in the United States, Canada & Hong Kong that have already achieved BAPFOL Accreditation!
