South Beach Aerial
This was scanned from a newspaper photo, so the quality is poor. Pelican Dunes at Crescent is near the center of the upper left quadrant of the photo. Nearly a mile of beach is shown in this photo, looking north.
|
Matanzas Inlet
This photo looks north, from just west of Marineland. The road paralleling the river is Highway A1A. The former route of A1A is directly oceanfront, but is not now passable by automobile. The houses on the left of A1A are in a community known as Summer Island; the community just before the inlet is Summerhaven. Pelican Dunes is about one mile beyond the bridge. Fort Matanzas is just out of view in the upper left.

King Street, St. Augustine
This picture is taken from above US Highway 1, looking east along King Street. The San Sebastian River is in the foreground, the St. Augustine harbor and Intracoastal Waterway is at the very top. Two of the three former Florida East Coast Railway buildings (now Flagler College dorms) can be seen at the lower left. The San Sebastian Winery is across King Street at the lower right. Flagler College is the prominent red tiled roof at the upper left.
|
Fort Matanzas
This shows the Rattlesnake Island dock, to which a National Park Service (free)passenger ferry takes fort visitors. The visitor center is about a mile south of Pelican Dunes, and features a lovely picnic area and woodland boardwalk.

Satellite Photo of St. Augusti…
This is the downtown area of Saint Augustine. Blue lines are major roads; the westernmost blue line is US 1 (Ponce de Leon). The Bridge of Lions is at lower right, the A1A bridge to Vilano Beach is at upper right. The campus at the top of the image is Florida School for the Deaf and Blind.

Marineland
Looking west at Flagler County's northernmost community, right at the edge of St. Johns County. This is how it appeared about ten years ago, when it was more of a tourist attraction and less of a dolphin research facility. The University of Florida's Whitney Marine Research Lab is just out of view to the right.
