Sweet Claudette 2009
The Broken Arrow Blues Band kicked off the show for 2009

John Latini was the second act on Friday, and we look forward to his return. Nice job John!

"The Sweet One" was back, with her new CD "That Man's Gotta Go" hitting high on the living Blues charts at #17 , she was in high spirits and the band was in good form.

Laith 2009

Detroit Videoman 2009

friday crowd 2009
Ann Arbor's Laith Al Saadi tore it up despite some P.A. trouble during his set. Look for a return show from Laith, we want to see more of him for sure!

Detroit Videoman Tom Sarnowski shoots a video at Heatstock every year. You have to look hard to find him in this shot, he's hard at work.

(o.k. look on the tower :>)

Good crowds and good fun at Heatstock '09

Psychild 2009

"Lonesome" Dave 2009

Yak - Espy 2009
Psychild (A.K.A. Robert Noll) closed out friday's show with the Covert Operations Band backing him up, and did a great job as always.

"Lonesome" Dave Paul kicked off the music on Saturday with his 14th consecutive appearance at Heatstock!

Yakity Yak and the Mike Espy Band gave a fine performance early Saturday afternoon. this was the first time we had the full band out, we had Yak and Mike as a duo in 2008. These guys are as real as the blues gets.

The Chris Leigh Band 2009

Mike eating 2009

Beth and Christy 2009
Christopher Leigh always brings his best effort out to the stage at Heatstock and he put on a great show as always.

I took some time out to eat good this year, the food was rockin', thanks to the Kitchen staff's hard work.

Christy Howard and Beth Groh (The Yardbitch!) were both on the mend this year, but they came out anyway, and both had a great time.

The Christy Howard Band 2009

The Alligators 2009

Bobby Murray 2009
The Christy Howard Band likes to feature some of Detroit's blues finest guitarists in their act. They brought slide master, and fellow No Cover recording artist, Jeff Grand with them this year and the result was a very entertaining show.

Those Rockin' Reptiles, The Alligators, returned to the Heatstock Stage and put on a great set featuring many songs from their soon to be released 5th CD - which will also be their first full length release on the No Cover Productions label.

The Bobby Murray Band has not been back to Heatstock since 1998, but they returned with style, and put on a great show. Singer Lenny Watkins captivated the crowd and Bobby did his crowdwalk to the delight of the fans!

Bobby and Ann 2009

Lightar-man Josh 2009

Cathy Davis 2009
Bobby's out on the crowdwalk and he's giving a guitar lesson to Ann Hubbarth of the Detroit Blues Society!

Motor City can play the Lightar with the best of them!

Cathy comes out almost every year and we are glad for that! She was awesome as usual!

Josh settin up 2009

Monster Chuck 2009

Joey Spina and Josh Ford 2009
Motor City Josh and the Big 3 gettin' ready for their set on Saturday night. (Josh closes out the festival almost every year)

Bobby Murray and Monster Chuck getting ready for some jamming with Motor City Josh and the Big Three during the Saturday night jam session

Joey Spina got in on the jam as well! Meanwhile Josh is wailing away as usual!

the pig 2009

sat crowd 2009

HEATSTOCK 06 pig
The pig looks burnt, but that's just the wood smoke doing it's job, that pig was perfectly done and juicy as all get out!

The crowd was having a great time!

There she is, another great roaster! With Captian Al, Jen, Bo, Paul and Gator looking on proudly.

HEATSTOCK 06 drinkin' Brandy

Kitchen Crew

Erich Goebel Band at Heatstock…
That's Barb Hicks, from the Detroit Blues Society board, Drinkin' Mike's homemade brandy - looks like she's thirsty! Brandy maker Mike Boulan is looking on.

The Kitchen crew has the toughest job at heatstock, they must feed us all! That's Antony & his friend with "Cousin" Jim and Rich Zuback

One of the newer No Cover acts the Erich Goebel Band plays some great music. Erich has a new CD out called "East Side Soul" which is a must have disc for sure!

Cornshuckin' 06

Chicken grill (Future Pig Gril…

Campground 06
The next generation of Heatstockers - workin' hard shuckin' corn!

The new chicken grill rocked the house! That's Paul on the left, and Jeff on the right, between them they cooked most of the food we ate that weekend! (With help from the kitchen staff of course!)

Things were very organized this year - mostly due to Neighbor Bob letting us use a few acres of his property, and Artie "The Corn Guy" laying out some nice wide roads. (notice that you can park at your campsite)

The Canadians were back again

The view from the stage

Travelin' Blues performing
The "Canadians" as they are called were back again this year, but they were missing a very important member of the group.  R.I.P. Marty

The crowd was large and the view from the stage was great!  We had a record turnout again this year and we overflowed the camping area.  Luckily the new neighbors were gracious enough to allow us to spill over onto their property!  Thanks guys!

Here are the new guys in action!  (LtoR Tony, Buck & Steve) The trashcan bass sounds as good as it looks!  We are happy to let you know this band has a CD out on No Cover

Billy Davis and Travelin' Stev…

Motor City Josh & Chuck Lyon

The Billy Davis Rhythm Machine
Billy and Steve were hangin' out together between their sets.

Motor City Josh & Chuck Lyon performing the "Heatstock Song".  Josh sat in with many people before taking the stage with his own band The Big Three late Saturday night.  Josh has many Cd's out on the No Cover label, and Chuck is featured on several compilations which are all available now in our No Cover cd's you can buy Section of this website

Billy Davis was back for his second Heatstock visit. (Bassist Bob Pilawski is in the background)  We are proud to have him as a No Cover recording artist and he is a prolific writer at that. 2004 saw the release of Billy's first No Cover Cd "Blue Teardrops" (available now in our No Cover cd's you can buy Section of this website).  Look for Billy to release his second full-length Cd on the Label in the next month or two.  We are also planning for the third cd already!

Another first timer at heatstock, Larry McCray, rocked the house!  His band tore it up and to top it off Larry brought up No Cover's main man, Motor City Josh, to sit in for a few tunes!  Too much fun!

Wall Of Denial

"Lonesome" Dave gets Award

Rick Stel Band

Arron Played with fire and chops beyond his years as Wall of Denial took the stage over for a great set.  The Band members are all in their teens but they play with great intensity and ability.  They are featured on the Bobzai Bob's Blues Bash Cd and also The Best Of Heatstock '04 cd, both of which are on the No Cover Label.  (available now in our No Cover cd's you can buy Section of this website)

The girls in the background are waiting - with a slight show of impatience -  for their chance to go on stage to sing and dance!

"Lonesome" Dave Paul is the only artist to perform at every Heatstock since we began 10 years ago.  He is shown here receiving an award for doing just that!  Dave also released his long awaited Cd, "Sit Down Bluesman" at the festival this year. (Get your copy in the No Cover CD's you can buy section of this website)

I am sure we will have them back in the future as they are recent No Cover Recording Artists with the release of the cd "Bringin' Home The Blues" in January of 2004. (available now in our no cover cd's you can buy Section of this website)  They went to Memphis for the Blues Challenge in 2004 and they are going back to Memphis in 2005 to represent the Capitol Area Blues Society in the 2005 competition. Congratulations Guys (and Gal)
