Baltimore Ice Sports, Inc. is saddened to relinquish the management of the Mount Pleasant Ice Arena, after 23 years of service to the community, due to the following abrupt action taken by the Baltimore City Department of Recreation & Parks. We wish all of our customers, friends, associates, and hard working staff well in the future.

Subject: Mount Pleasant Ice Arena
Dear Connie:
We are very concerned that we have not received a contract for the management of Mt Pleasant Ice Arena, which we discussed at our last meeting on May 9th. We were told that the contract had been pulled to be revised from year round to seasonal operation. The Profit & Loss for May through September 2006 and the forecast for that same period for 2007, plus the Budget for 2007-2008 was provided by May 16th as requested.
Since we have not recieved any correspondence following the information provided in May and in an effort to continue serving the community, we have issued contracts for most of our customers and have completed the majority of the ice scheduling for the coming season. It is necessary to begin work on the mat and start forming the ice in August, only 1 week away. Our growing debt is still outstanding since our closing in May, so we look forward to opening in September with our returning customers providing the much needed resources to begin lowering this balance. Our staff is ready to get back to work from their temporary layoff.
Timing is everything and we must have assurances from you now that our contract to operate is in place before we incur any further debt establishing the ice surface, checking the mechanics of the physical plant, the Zamboni, and making the facility ready for the public. Is the management that we have provided for the last 23 years still in our hands or is there a request for proposals being anticipated?
Please, please enlighten us so we know how to proceed.
Thank you,
Pat Dirzuweit

Mr. Brown’s Reply:
Dear Mr. Stummp:
By this e-mail, which will be followed by a letter, you are to cease and desist immediately contracting with any agency, public or private, for any service or activity, involving the Mount Pleasant Ice Rink owned by the City of Baltimore. Additionally, you should notify all organizations with whom you have improperly contracted that the agreement is not valid at this time annd that they should contact Mr. Bob Wall, Director of Youth & Adult Sports here at Baltimore Recreation and Parks, at (410) 396-6136, to schedule their use of the facility. You do not have the authority, or the permission, from the Baltimore Department of Recreation and Parks, to contract on our behalf for the coming season.
As you may know, the City of Baltimore has assumed the responsibility for the electrical services at the rink, starting on July 1, 2007. All prior bills remain the responsibility og Baltimore Ice Sports.
Please acknowledge receipt and compliance as soon as possible.
