LECTURE SERIES
The 3rd Thursday Lecture Series, a joint offering of the Mandarin Museum and Historical Society and the Mandarin Community Club, will be conducted on a quarterly basis in 2012. Programs will continue to be held at the MCC Building, 12447 Mandarin Road, starting with refreshments at 6:30 PM and the lecture at 7 PM. Flag Retirement Ceremony The Mandarin Community Club, 12447 Mandarin Road, will host a Flag Retirement Ceremony conducted by SAR (Sons of the American Revolution) for the proper and honorable disposal of used or worn American flags on Sunday, February 26. A collection box will be located at the Club for advance drop-offs. Flags can also be brought the day of the event. The ceremony is open to the public. Contact the MCC at 268-1622 for further information. ______________________________________________________________________________________ The Mandarin Community Club hosted a Holiday Dinner Celebration for their members on December 15. Held at the Club building, 12447 Mandarin Road, the event was intended to show appreciation to members for their support over the past year. Attendees were treated to a traditional holiday dinner and entertainment by Broadway Kid Starz under the direction of Kathleen Myrick. Donations for the Mandarin Food Bank were collected, a tradition the Club has sponsored for over a decade. Election of the Officers and Board for the upcoming year also took place on December 15. Those elected for 2012 were President, Susie Scott; Vice President, Emily Lisska; Treasurer, Robert McLean, and Secretary, Betty Wolfe. Perhaps best known as the host and sponsor for the annual Mandarin Art Festival held every Easter weekend, the Mandarin Community Club invites all interested parties to become members. As development and maintenance of our Billard Commemorative Park continues, decorative, personalized bricks continue to be offered for sale. These can be placed in your choice of three locations within the Park: along sidewalks, the Veteran’s Memorial Monument area, or near the butterfly garden.
