Yeah! My wife had to take off and and go to her class. Yessss, still in school! She graduated and got her masters in business, now she is studying Massage Thearapy. Which includes learning biology. Which means she's halfway to become a doctor if she wanted to. You go girl!  She a strait "A" student, show I know she'll do very well! September 2008

My thought of the daySeptember 24th 2008 Well, Chevy's was busy. It was really different because almost every other table I performed at was someone I had performed for. Mostly birthday parties that I had done several years ago. But they all had fun and it made me feel good that they remember me. I'm working on a few new affects, and some new close up magic. Today, I was working out side fixing up a shed in my back yard. I know, boring! But, guess what, last week I grilled pizza! Yeah! It was YUMMY! Okay, I have a show tomorrow, so gotta run!
My thought of the day

September 18th 2008 Wow! Kids are back to school, and it time for school shows again! Yeah, baby! Okay, here I am again. I didn't get to write a whole lot because I have been so busy with the house, with shows, and with many new projects. I don't what you to think I forgot all about you. I haven't I know there are some of you who like to pop up here and read my thoughts, or whatever you call it. I'm going to change a few things over the next few weeks, so please be patient. This may become a blog or link to a blog, where I don't have to keep uploading to my site all the time...also, I will be adding lots of video, and photos...new ones. I still have a lot of the old stuff I had since I started the site. and I'll be added stuff as often as I can for you to see.
Now the NEW!

My thought of the dayAugust 7th 2008 HAPPY CHINESE VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

May 2008

My thought of the dayMay 3rd 2008 Shew!!! What a day! I Performed at the Kids Fair held at the Vanilla Racquet Ball Gym. Show was okay. My wife and I did the Metamorphosis, and it was, I have to say, AWESOME! Didn't know I had that much energy after yesterday. Then I did a birthday party...it went well. I also noticed a nice shot in the Capital Newspaper performing the linking rings.
My thought of the dayMay 2nd 2008 Yes, it's true! I have been BUSY! For the past few months on and off I have been performing a lot and recently almost every day. I'm also working on a commercial for a new Magic Kit that will be coming out. It's call Freaky Body Parts. I'm helping the kids who will be in the commercial practice.
Today was a really fun day. I performed at the Maryland Maritime Heritage Festival. I did some Mime and magic, and then roller skated around doing magic and mime. Yes, I can do it! Then later I did a show with my wife at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, which by the way, was I blast! Everyone loved the show.
My thought of the dayMay 1st 2008
April 2008
My thought of the dayApril 28th 2008 Monday! Monday! RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!! Wow! it has been a very busy past few weeks. Just when I thought it was going to be slower than usual for this season...it picked up. This month is Abracadabra Month with the Cub Scouts, and I have been doing quite a few meetings this month. This evening I have a show for Cub Scout Pack 129 in Centerville, MD. Wednesday I have another show for Cub Scout Pack 2214. Okay, well, I have to go make calls, get business, and go to the gym to exercise and keep in shape for all these shows. See ya!
My thought of the dayApril 27 2008 Sunday! It's a blah day...I have allergies
March 2008
My thought of the dayMarch 24th 2008 MONDAY! Bill day, and Catch up day! March is always a bit slow, but, because of the economy, it's been a bit slower. So, that gives me time to practice, and do lots of yard work! Yeah!
My thought of the dayMarch 23rd 2008 HAPPY EASTER! You know I almost forgot today was Easter, because I was soo busy working in my office. My wife and I went to dinner last minute and wanted to go to some play to eat a lot...so we went to Old Country Buffet. The food was pretty good and they had a lot of Easter Dinner types of food. The went to see Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day!

My thought of the dayMarch 18th 2008 Chevy's was really busy, and I stayed pretty late! I have to say, I really love what I do! ( In case you don't know, I perform magic professionally). There is nothing worse then doing something because someone told you to, or you felt obligated, or it's what your parents wanted, or because you have to make ends meet. I get a total satisfaction from the expressions people make. Especially on the skeptics who don't believe. Sometimes I come to a table and just before I start I get this. "Ohhh No..Not a magician," type of expression. Yes, I know MANY of you when first approached by a magician think the stereotypical thought of a clown or birthday party magician and that you won't see the cool stuff done on TV. Especially if you don't know him, or he says something like, "Hey wanna see a really cool trick?"
I think how you approach someone or a table makes a difference. Tonight, I can up to a table, and I got that look. So, I told them who I was, and that I'd like to show them something really quick. So, I had to do something really good to get their attention. Well, let's put it this way...they could not stop smiling!

Sometimes I'm asked to do a trick is the streets, in a store, or almost anywhere and I just can say, "No!" Why? Well, I guess it's because I don't want them to feel cheated. Like tonight, I finish at 8. But, people are still wanting to see me perform. So, I do a little extra. One guy came up to me and asked if I could do something for his little daughter. I told him I'm normally done at 8:00 PM. He mentioned he'll give me a $20. Well, I did perform at the table, and even if he hadn't given me the $20 before, I still would have performed.

My thought of the dayMarch 11th 2008 Chevy's Night! Don't forget to stop by and say hello!! :o) See ya!
My thought of the dayMarch 10th 2008 What a weekend. Five shows!!! All went well, except for a few flubs. Nothing major. Some days the shows go perfectly, and others, there just seems to be a glitch, kinda like a computer. Friday I did a school show for Sunset Elementary's PTA Family Night. It was fun, the parents and kids had a blast. I did the Metamorphosis as a treat. Saturday's 1st show was a bit rough. I was very tired from the night before. The second show of the day was for the Talbot Country Club in Eastern. I was called in place of another Magician who worked there, but he couldn't make it so he called me and I filled in the spot. It was raining and very windy that day. And as soon as I got there and shortly after I got set up and ready to perform, the power went out. I was supposed to stroll first and then do a large show. Well, it was kind of funny, because I was performing in the dark with flashlights on me. I did as much as I could, and then as I was finishing up, the power came back on. The show was a success, and thank God the power came back on. Though I was still prepared to perform the show with people holding flashlights. Sunday was busy also with two large birthday parties. The first at 11:30 AM. So, I had to be up and ready very early. Thank God the 1st show was local. The second was in Gathersburg, MD. Afterwards I went to the gym to work out. My wife, Tanya was home making Won Tons. She is learning how to cock Chinese food, and has taken some lessons. I'd have to admit, they are the best you will ever try. Okay, well, that was that weekend, and now it's Monday! Catch up time! See ya soon!
My thought of the dayMarch 2nd 2008 Skiing was awesome! I went through three lessons, and was on the beginner's slope for a few hours, then I tried the bigger slope a bit late...fun!!! I picked it up pretty good. Though I have to admit, falling wasn't so much fun. It's fun, because going down a little hill wasn't too bad, but when you stop or almost stop, that is when you fall. I am a bit sore today. I hope to have a few photos up here soon!
My thought of the dayMarch 1st 2008 Guess What I'm doing today??? I'm going skiing up at Round Top in PA. I will let you know what happened! If you don't hear from me? I broke my leg. :o)
February 2008
My thought of the dayFebruary 29th 2008 So what are you going to do with that extra day???
My thought of the dayFebruary 28th 2008 2:42 PM Wow! What a busy month....and it has snowed! It flew right by. The weather is a bit wacky, it was like 80 a few weeks ago, and last night 20 degrees. I'm going to try and link my blog to my site ...I have - www.xanga.com/jackjulius blog ...which is my photographic blog web site.

I did a few shows this past week! Chevy's was great, busy. Lots of now faces and lots of "fans" and it was packed. I had a ball. Something one of the servers said that I thought was pretty cool. But, I kinda felt bad. She said, "Jack Julius never gets turned away" when I was approaching a table to do some magic.
I asked her, "What do you mean?"
And she said, "At the Apple bee's Restaurant in Bowie, the magician there gets turned away. They don't want to see his magic."
"Really?" I said.
She responded, "Yeah, they don't let him come to the table or don't want him to perform."
Then I replied, "They know he's there to perform or know is a magic night, right? They advertise it, don't they?"
"I guess,"
she said.
I thought that was odd. I can understand if someone was in deep conversation and didn't want to be bothered, but, to totally be turned away? That kind of rejection I couldn't handle. I always get a feel for who would be interested, but 90% of the time, I'm being requested to perform at table anyway, so I don't worry so much. I guess it depends on how you are approaching the tables and what you are saying.

A NOTE TO WORKING MAGICIANS - When doing restaurant magic. Let the table know who you are and that you are hired to entertain at the tables. Starting off with, "Hey you wanna see a trick," is not the best opener and can be a turn off. Also, Have signs posted that you are performing so the public can know you are there. Often, I ask, "Did you know to night was Magic Night?" and they will still say, "NO! I didn't." So, you have to be clear in what you do or say. I do some things that work for me, surprise the table and open them up for magic, and they want to see more. Find what works for you.

Good Luck! If you have any question, please ask.

Last night's show went well. I did miss up on something, but, hey...gotta keep moving on, right? My shows are 90% improv.

Recently, I got a call that was really cool! I was looking for stage help and this one kid about 20 years old or so, named Aaron, was interested in helping. He kept calling, but I was a bit busy, and not ready to have him work. Anyway, recently he joined the military, and I hadn't heard from him in months. Well, a week or so ago Aaron called and guess what he said? He said, he has gotten into magic. He said that he was learning a few things and found that the Sergeants there are "Ass-holes" and not very easy to get along with and it can be very stressful. So he told me that performing magic for the sergeants actually help and break the tension. I thought that was the coolest thing.

My thought of the dayHappy Valentines Day!!! You don't really need to know the date, right? Hope you are doing something fun with your loved one!
My thought of the dayFebruary 7th 2008 HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR 2008
