October 31st 2001 HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! |
 |
October 30th 2001 What a busy day! It's about 8:30PM and I'm off to the gym. I had to go to a "Point
System Conference" this morning. Yes, about my driving record. Then went to The Gallery at the Inner Harbor to get things rolling for my perfoming down town in the Ampitheater. Bethany,
marking director there for the performers is a wonderful person. Well, after our chat, I go something to eat at
Donna's Coffee Bar
& Cafe at The Gallery's 2nd level. Charlene, a waitress there, was wonderful, and so was the cook
that made my turkey burger. Click here for a detailed Map of where things are located. One word! Okay, two! GO THERE! The
food was great. I had a turky-burger with sweet-potato fries and they were good. I never had them before. SO, if
you visit Baltimore at the Inner Harbor go to
the Gallery. Okay. off to the gym...see ya! |

October 28th 2001 It's Sunday and about 9:00 PM. This weekend was a busy one. Let me start with Saturday.
Two shows! The first was for a Bar Mitzvah. I have to tell you I never encountered a situation like the one I had.
There were about 60 kids in a room, with tables & chairs and NO space for me. A friend, Asbury, was helping
me, and had done some shows with me in the past. Anyway, It took two different arrangements before I could perform.
Even then, I had no space and everyone was right on top of me. I was VERY frustrated. But, I improvised and did
whatever I could. Turned out...they loved it and I was really surprised that it did work out. Then I zoomed off
to another show for a benefit. I lost my brain by this point. Asbury had to remind me. So again I improvised a
bit...and closed the show. They seemed to love it and many asked for my card. It was an all Indian culture event
and so Asbury tried some of the food there. Not his cup of tea! Later that evening, we went to Red Robins to grab a bite before checking out "Iron Monkey"
which has lots of good fight scenes in it. Anyway, I wasn't going to bring any magic in with me and just eat. Both
Asbury and myself were still wearing my Jack Julius T-Shirts. The two guys on the end of the bar (where
we say and ate) asked about the shirts. Asbury told them I did magic. I told them about it and so and so, and then
told them it was the only form of entertainment that is totally universal and a great way to put a smile on someone's
face or meet someone. Asbury said, "Show 'em" and pointed to two girls sitting next to me. So I did.
and entertained them all (even the bartender) with a bit of improvised magic. Well, it turns out both the guys
were managers at a Nordstrom Cafe. So, I may be performing there soon( at the one in Annapolis Mall. So check back
soon!!!
Today...two shows, they went well. The second one was a halloween party at Piney Orchard Visiter Center near Fort
Meade. There were about 100 little kids and adults. It was fun! I was tired when I finished that one. Well, See
ya, I'm off to the movies! |

October 26th 2001 Busy! Busy! Busy! I have been working hard on my personalized puzzle page- Picture
MAGIC PUZZLES. I'm not done, but it's UP! It's all text for now. I will ad images with in the next few days.
Shew! But, If you have me perform, you get to see them first hand on what they look like. They are cool! So check
out the page! Click here! If you would like to
print up a copy of the Picture MAGIC PUZZLE order form in Adobe PDF format, you can click
here. There is a link in the Picture MAGIC PUZZLE
Page for a form. I hope to have an on line order form that you can just fill out and order. But first I will
start here and see how it goes. Remember, Holidays are coming, you need to order and plan your parties early!!!! |

and then went to the post office. I got my first check from Birthday Express.
I'm sure you've seen the many links and pages on my site. That was a surprise. Well, if you haven't check out the
Party Planning Page and Party

into a Puzzle. That page will be up very soon! |

October 23rd 2001 Can't sleep! I woke up about 4:00 AM and turned on the TV. Cider House Rules (
one of my favorite movies) was on, so I watched some of that and ate some Ben & Jerry's Ice
Cream. Macadamia something or another. Well, I guess it's time for me to catch some sleep again. Night!
It was a picture-perfect-day, today. I slept late, since I went to bed late. Then went to Quiet
Waters Park and ran a bit (I needed it). But something funny happened before I went in to the park...I
stopped at a Snow Cone stand and asked for some water (yes, I forgot to drink some). Well, they gave me a cup of
ice. I guess it would do. There was a little girl there and I asked if she liked magic. STOP! As so as I said that,
the woman (that gave me ice), and her mother, asked,"Are you a magician?" then looked at man (I think
her husband) and said,"Wasn't I just saying,'I need a magician' only a few minutes ago?" Well, you can
imagine the rest, but it's for June of next year for her daughters graduation. Then later that day I went to Merritt
Athletic and talked to the head personal trainer about being a trainer part time. You know how I love to keep in
shape. I might as well help others get into shape. Anyway, I'll be starting there shortly in the Annapolis
Merritt Athletic Club. |

October 22nd 2001 It's about 8:00 PM.Fall is here! Got good news...the Jack's Magic Puzzle Page should be up and running this week. On Sunday, My friend and I
ate a great buffet at CafeŽ Orleans, in Annapolis. Then I did a show. After the show, I went to Quiet Waters Park with my friend who visited me. It was really beautiful with all the leaves
falling off the trees. I tried to give my friend a crash course (no pun intended) on learning how to roller-yes-Roller
Skate. It was fun! The party I did earlier went well- actually perfect. I'll be seeing them again in December.
Later Sunday evening, my friend had me eat Balut,
a Pinoy delicacy. Saturday, I did the Giant Foods promotion again. It was fun. My friend
took some photos of me performing there, so I should have some photos up soon. Then I went to Barry's
Magic Shop in Weaton, Maryland. That's also the same area where my friend found Balut in a Filipino
Store. Another thought! I forgot to tell you about the show I did on Friday the 19th for The Department of Energy.
It was fun and I met a few other performers. Okay, now I'm working on a photos-only section that will have tons
of photos, of parties, kids, people having fun, everything, so you know you are getting your moneys worth! YESSS!
I always need feed back, so click this link and sign my Jack Julius Guest Book. |

October 17th 2001 Quick Note! When planning your party don't forget to check these two pages out. The Party Planning Page (In the "Show
Stuff" section & Party Supplies
(which is new aand many more supplies will be added) in the "Links" Section.
Last nights show went well for the Maryland Board of Elections. It was held at Turf Valley Resorts.
There were at least 600+ people there. I had a friend (Laura) assist me in the Metamorphosis. She works at the Merritt in Annapolis. Her boyfriend
also helped a bit. We were fed a really nice meal before the show. It went well, but I had a few glitches in the
beginning. Lets just say, I screwed up on something I shouldn't have. The last time I did screw up on that one
was back when I was a teenager and performing in front of mostly magicians. Guess what? They didn't catch the crew-up
either. Well, other than that, everything went great, and people came back and told me how much they loved the
show, took some cards. Yes, there were a few that had to say,"Did anyone ever tell you how much you look
like Robin Williams?"
And I do I get that at every show I do. I wish Robin
Williams knew! Then later as I was packing up, I was also invited to come up to the Hospitality Suit for
a beer or drink by a few of the ladies. So, when I was done, I thought I'd say hello and thanks again. Well, I
ended up being interviewed and asked all kinds of questions about how I got into magic, where did I learn it, who
taught me Mime & other questions. Because the majority of the crowd was middle aged, they especially enjoyed
my Mime Sketch- "First Time at The Drive-In" which was originated by Red Skelton. I was pleased! |
 |
October 14th 2001 Good Morning! It's 10:00 am and I am off to do my shows for today. See ya!
Hello, I'm back! The shows went well today. It's raining outside right now. I love the rain in the summer, but
not now, when it's getting cooler. Especially when I have to unload my truck in the rain. Not Fun! I'm pretty excited,
I have a very special friend coming in from Canada to visit me. I haven't seen her in over a year. I have been
to Canada a few times. Okay, anyway, I thought I'd share that bit of info with you. I have some corporate shows
coming up this week, on Tuesday and Thursday...I can't wait. :o) Gotta go, see ya soon! |
 |
October 13th 2001 Shew! What a long day. I did three show...then wen to see the movie, Iron Monkey. Friday
I saw Bandits. It was Great. Another top notch film by (writer/Director) Barry Levinson. |
 |
October 12th 2001 Olah! Hello all! It's Dia de la Raza/ Mexico. I thought I'd write a few before
I did all my other show prepping stuff. There are so great to see movies coming out Today. Bandits, Iron Monkey
and a few others, so, it may be a busy movie weekend. I've got 5 shows this weekend. I've done most of the Certificates,
so I could have a bit more free time to see some movies. Normally if I have several shows on Saturday, I won't
be able to see a movie because I'm getting things prepared. I may write some more later...SeeYa!
I'm too tired to write! |
 |
October 11th 2001 Did a show today for the YWCA. Wow, they have moved up in the world. I remember when I
was a kid, the YWCA was always in some church hall, or broken down building. But, the one I performed at? Shew!
Classy! Lots of rooms for classes and events. The building was rather large. So, how did the show go? Well for
some magicians, 11 through 15 year old may be a challenge. Some times it is for me. They were a rowdy bunch, so
I gave me rules and speech and they seemed to enjoy it. Well, the people that hired me told me they were quite
surprised that I had everyone attention so easily. That made me feel goo to hear that. Sometimes when I perform,
I think, "This show sucks" but the kids are thinking,"Wow! This show is great!" and you can
never tell. |
 |
October 10th 2001 I Stopped by GNC and picked up supplies for my "Body For Life" training program...then
I went to Barrys Magic Shop in Wheaton, Maryland. I go
there often for supplies. Hung out with Barry for a bit and then came home. Practiced a bit and got ready for tomorrow's
show. |
 |
October 9th 2001 I just finished off my last bit of home made chili. Worked on my site all night. I have
some new links and Party Planning Info in the Party
Planning page. I can't remember if I wrote it or not, but I also put some images of some of the Prizes for
the "Free" Give-a-ways in the Free Stuff contest
page. I working on several other things. It's really late and I need Sleep! Nit! |
 |
October 7th 2001 Good morning! It's about 11:00 am and I'm going to write a few words here. I saw Joy Ride
last night and it reminded me of the movie Hitchicker. Remember that one? Yes, it was intense. Then after the movie
I went to TGIF's (Fridays) to see if there was anyone there I knew to say hello to. There were a few people there.
So, as fate would have it, entertained at the bar. They bought me a few shooter. (actually they were free cause
one of the girls worked there). I guess I made there night. What made mine was that I got a new glass item that
the bartender sold me. It was the margarita-daiquiri glass and was very thick and heavy...I guess so it won't break
too easily if someone dropped it.. I had one similar to it (more like a Champagne glass but if broke a few weeks
ago and it's been like hell trying to find one like it and that one at Fridays was the closest thing I could find.
Well, I have to run now, so I will finish later. The Puzzle Page will be up shortly and
so will the new Party Planning Page so you can
do everything from home without leaving your house! |
 |
October 5th 2001 It's really late, but I just wanted to write something in here for now. I just saw "Training
Day" tonight and it was an intense movie. Thursday I did a show at the National
Baltimore Aquarium. Well, not a show show, but did walk-a-round close-up magic. It was really
cool. There were several tables set up right where the Dolphin Exhibit was and you could see them swim around as you ate. It was very high class.
I really enjoyed myself and even though I was only supposed to be there for two hours, I stayed almost an hour
longer. There was this one couple (or friends), Accountants who were trying to figure out everything I was doing.
Yes, that can upset quite a few magicians. It was bugging me a bit, that they have to try an analyze and touch
everything. Even a few people at the table made comments about people like them being a magicians worse nightmare.
True, it can be, especially for a beginner. Well, As a professional, I think you should learn from people like
that. Be more skillful at your craft. Don't let them get the best of you, it will break you down and make you look
unprofessional. I love people like that, because I always have something to back me up and put them in their place.
No, they weren't very close on their analyzing of the tricks, but I needed to do something. So, I perform my signed
Card on The Ceiling trick, and that made them wonder. I walked away...smiling...gotch-ya! |
