Past What's New For May 2004 | | May 27th 2004 Thursday! I had a really busy day today. First an outdoor show at Quiet Waters Park. It was fun and simple. The people who hired me saw me at Ledo Pizza. Then I took off to perform a party in Virginia. The birthday girl had requested me. Her dad said she had a list of three thing she wanted to do. I was at the top of the list in big print while the other two event choices were small. So, her father told me, "She had to had to have Jack Julius!" I also reread what I wrote yesterday and found a lot of errors. Yes, it's often quite late when I write my News! Okay, Friday I have a big day, so I have to hit the sack. Night-o! | | May 26th 2004 Wednesday! Humpday! It was a busy day. I performed at Merritt Athletic Club in Annapolis for the National Senior health &Fitness Day. Then worked out, then came home, ate and took off to Ledo Pizza. It was a pretty busy night that started off a little slow. Lots of new faces and two kids showed up wearing Jack Julius T-shirts. It was really cool. They got them at a show I did about a year ago at their school. Some old friends stopped by and their son was having a birthday, so I surprised him a little with a few special things. Also, a little girl about three years old had something special to say. Her father said, "Jack Julius? Someone has something to tell you." So, I came over to their table. She was really shy and then out of the blue she said, "I have something to tell you ... I love you Jack Julius!" Yes, I was surprised, and really didn't know how to respond. I told her 'thank you' and that was very special. Okay, it's late and I have to get to bed. I have several shows to do tomorrow, one local and one in VA. See ya! | | May 24th 2004 Wow! Memorial Day is next Monday and this weekend I may go visit my newly founded sister and family members. This weekend went by fast and the shows were okay. Friday night went well, all except for a card trick. That sucks! Ohh, yeah and a few weeks ago I did a card on the ceiling trick where the card wouldn't stick to the ceiling. How f#cking embarrassing. The Metamorphosis trunk escape was really fast! Saturday I did a "free show" at an Elementary School for a carnival fund raiser. A total waste of my time. I will never do any free shows again unless I get paid in a way that is worth my time. The adults were yacking away, and no one had any respect. I was giving my time, and for what? Absolutely none! Sunday was okay and for a 1st Communion party. Some of the kids were a real pain in the ass. After the show, an older gentleman was peeking behind my curtain (well he actually came back behind it) while we were putting things away as if to see if he could find something. I got pissed and told him to get out of there. "You're worse than a kid. I can expect a kid to be nosey. You have no respect!" And I hope it made him think a bit how stupid it is to do that. Ohhh, let me see if I can find out how he did something. Grow up! I really hate when people don't respect your professionalism. It's funny, but a lot of adults do that. They come over and look in a box, or pick up something or try to figure out something. I'm really cracking down on my Body For Life Challenge. I got up early today and rode the bike, then, later ran for 30 min in the park with Tanya. I really want to win this round. We are doing it as a couple. I even have a chance to win $10,000 in the four week round. Okay, I have lots of stuff to do and will keep you posted. As usual, keep check back for updates and shows, and any other info. | | May 19th 2004 Wednesday! It was packed at Ledo tonight. I stayed and taught one little girl who, with her father, shows up every Wednesday just when I'm done. I have a school show Friday, two shows Saturday and one on Sunday. Busy! Well, I'm beat, so I'm hitting the sack. | | May 17th 2004 Monday! It really late. I had a long day. First I went to Quiet Waters Park (only a mile away) and ran for about an hour. Then came home, had breakfast, paid some bills then got ready to go to the Inner Harbor. It almost rained down there and I wasn't going to go. But since we were there, I thought I'd try and see. It was really slow, which sucked. But we performed anyway an did about 2 hours worth. Tips were okay. Okay they sucked , also. But, the show was fun and there was a little girl I had brought up as the "key" girl who was just a doll. Probably not even two years old and brave as can be. As we packed up the rain started in and we got out of there just in time. We ate, out on one of the decks at the Inner Harbor. It was really nice. Then we rushed home, changes and then went to the gym for an intense workout. I just got out from soaking in a hot tub a while ago and now I'm writing you. | | May 16th 2004 Sunday! It was a beautiful day most of the day and I was a bit lazy. I was going to New Jersey to visit my sister I haven't seen since I was about 6 years old. But, I was really tired from driving all day yesterday. I had two shows on Saturday. The first was a show at The Severna Park Racquetball Club. I did a small show for the kids and some family members and then after that we set up in a Racquetball court and performed the Metamorphosis. There were steps in front of the court when people could sit. It went well, but I was soooooooooo hot and sweating like a pig. Then afterwards we went to VA and performed a birthday party for a little girl named Bethany who turned seven. She didn't want me to leave and kept saying,"Please don't go!" She kept giving us hugs and bragging about the show and she thinks in the best ever. Wow, what a true fan. Thanks to Bathany and also a farewell because here father in going to be stationed in Korea. Yes, they are a military family. I wish them the best. Ohh, I even got to hear little talented Bethany sing a song for the Sound of Music. A Few of My Favorite Things was the song and she did quite well. Look out Britney Spears! Okay, bed time, good Night! | | May 12th 2004 Can you believe it's already Wednesday? Yikes! Today was a nice hot day and I stated it off at the park getting my photos taken for the Body For Life Challenge. Tanya and I are going to enter it, which means, I have to get into tip top shape in twelve weeks. If you feel you need or want a transformation, the Body for Life Challenge will do it. Well, I performed a bit today. First I did a party at Ledo Pizza before the actual performing for "Magic Night" started. It was packed and many new faces as well as returns were there. Sorry for the few tables I couldn't get to. I felt really bad about not getting to everybody. I would see them looking and watching, and the next thing I know, they were done. I'm working on a plan for a Birthday Party package so you can have your party at Ledo Pizza if you don't want to do it at your home.
I thought I was going to update my site on Monday, but didn't have a chance. It's a long story I may have to write soon. Anyway, I'm going to try and update the Show Calendar a little tonight, so I have to go but will write tomorrow.
NOTE: If you noticee missspelllled words or something that seems "off" please lett me know. Thanks! | | May 10th 2004 Good morning! Well actually it's almost noon, but I guess depending where in the world you are reading this from it could be anytime. But, I'm writing this at noon, my time. So, how was your weekend? Me? Busy! Busy! Busy! Friday I saw Van Helsing after I performed a school show, which went well, minus some mishaps. I also performed several shows over the weekend, including a few shows Saturday evening from 6 to 9 down at the Baltimore Inner Harbor, after a 1st Holy Communion reception, which was performed at 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant. The show went well, except for a card that wouldn't stick to the ceiling. Very embarrassing. But not as embarrassing as the school show where I was supposed to make a cup of water vanish. I showed the cup empty, poured water into from another glass and as I turned the cup upside down to show the water has vanished? It didn't! It went "whoosh" on to my hand and all over the stage. But as usual, I had to play it off, so I said, "Look, water!" I smiled and continued as if nothing happened. Later, after Tanya refilled the glass with water and I had performing my paper eating trick and floating glass of soda, I picked up the cup again, showed it empty and said, "Do you realize how much paper I eat and water I spill in a year?" I then poured the water in to the cup and walked towards the audience. Since they have already seen the water spill out the first time, I played it up a little this time to make it seem all apart of the show. I acted as if to spill it on someone and they were afraid to get wet. I went back up on stage and as I slowly turned the cup over I said, " Should I make the water disappear this time?" And ... it worked! Yeah, no mess! Shew! But, that wasn't even half as funny as what Tanya was doing when I was performing. I got the order of a few thing mixed up and didn't do the one I was supposed to, and you can see Tanya going back and forth getting things ready for the affect I was supposed to perform. When she came out, she was waiting to see what I was going to perform, and noticed I changed the order again and went back behind the curtain to prepare for the trick again. Does this sound confusing? Okay, let me put it to you this way. I had two doves to produce and three affects. The order in which I was to perform them was changed, so, you can imagine from there what had to be done. We had taped the show and later watched it and laughed our asses off, it was so funny! It's a good think she knows my show and know how to work with me and add lib when we need to. | | May 6th 2004 Shew! Yesterday was really busy! I went to Chevy's for an hour, then went to Ledo from 6-8 then went back to Chevy's to perform for about 2 more hours. It was busy and I had a lot of fun. This coming weekend is going to be really busy! Tomorrow I have a school show. | | May 5th 2004 Happy Cinco de Mayo! It's Wednesday and Hump Day! Well, if you read this and it before Wednesday, come on down to Chevy's off of Route 2 South. Or click here! What is Cinco de Mayo? It's pronounced "SEENG koh duh MAH yoh" and is a holiday celebrated on May 5 by Mexicans and Mexican Americans. Its name is Spanish for Fifth of May.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of a Mexican army over a French army at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The Mexican army, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza, won the battle even though the French force was better armed and three times as large. The battle occurred after Emperor Napoleon III of France sent troops to Mexico to conquer the country. Despite the Mexican victory at Puebla, the French later gained control of Mexico City and established a French-supported government there. In 1866 and 1867, however, France withdrew its troops from Mexico because of resistance by many Mexicans and pressure from the United States. The French-backed government soon fell. Cinco de Mayo is celebrated differently in different areas. Some Mexican towns hold small celebrations, including parades or town meetings and speeches. In the United States, celebrations often include parades, folk dancing, speeches, carnival rides, and Mexican music.
