SUPPORT FROM YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL
"When I was a kid I had a friend named Sally whose family owned a horse farm near our suburban home. Sally was a Roman Catholic - an exotic religion to me, as my family - and the neighborhood - was, largely, Jewish. One day as Sally was about to enter her bedroom in their rickety, old farm house - a relic from when the neighborhood was rural - she told me that she had been taught at parochial school that everyone has a Guardian Angel and that you were supposed to say, whenever you entered a room, "My Guardian Angel go before me."
Wow! What a concept! I'd never heard anything like that but I thought it was extremely appealing - until I told my mother and she said that "we don't believe in such things." Ok. So much for Guardian Angels.
Until years later, when I had overwhelming troubles to deal with, and I remembered that Guardian Angel idea. Maybe I had one, after all. And if so, maybe s/he could - would - help me, comfort me, help me to feel better, give me some strength, help me cope. And so I began speaking with My Guardian Angel. At times I've asked her to help me or comfort me, even to stroke me and caress me when I was feeling just terribly down - and I believe she has.
It's a lovely concept and I do recommend it. Perhaps you can conjure up a Guardian Angel whom you could call upon to help you, comfort you, make you feel better. S/he can be whatever you envision her/him to be - and s/he can do whatever you would like her/him to do for you!
How's that for a nifty way to get some help and comfort?
Signed, Your dear Aunt Fanny"
