Lost Gods Anyone
By
Thomas B. Wallace
Okay, this is the lost and found gods department.
Department of what? You ask.
Why the universe of course.
Of course you realize what a tragedy it is,
When a person loses his gods, or her gods, or god singular, since even the sigular ones can get lost.
I mean, look what happened to the philistines,
When they lost Mollech.
Or, how about the Egyptians,
When Amon Ra took a powder?
(by the way, he’s hanging around out by Deneb III on some backwater planet that hasn’t learned about pyramids yet)
So which god, or gods are you looking for?
I’ve got a sale on Mammon, he’s not lost anymore,
There are more people on this planet that worship him
Than ever before.
How about Brahma, he’s a good one,
If you can wake him up that is,
Otherwise he just dreams you around in circles.
Allah, don’t know him,
Oh you mean mohammed’s god,
He’s off on a jihad right now,
I’ll tell him you stopped by and dropped his name.
How about Kali,
Lots of younsters about seem to think,
She’s just as cool as can be,
Rifles and knives and bombs
Are all she needs.
What about Jesus, you ask?
Well, that’s a tough one you know.
You can’t really worship him,
unless you know him,
and once you know him,
He comes looking for you
if you get lost.
But he never gets lost, if you know what I mean.
How about atheism,
That’s the one pretends he’s not a god at all, just the truth.
Of course they all claim that,
The question is not whether he believes he is a god,
Or even whether you believe he is a god,
The question is whether or not anyone worships him,
And believe me there are plenty that worship atheism,
After all, if you worship him you don’t ever have to worry,
About losing another god,
In him you have lost them all.
