Boomer On the Ground - The Colassus of Mars - Seventh in The Mars Series

Loyal readers by now will realize that I will not stop following this story until NASA recognizes that the photographic evidence of advanced civilization being returned from the Martian landscape by the orbiters, as well as the rovers on the surface, is too overpowering to be ignored, too evident to be denied, and too interesting to be minimized for whatever reasons NASA has chosen not to speak of these issues. Neither will the voices be silenced by the echoing sounds of silence from NASA in response to the questions raised by these images.
So far, I have gathered and examined thousands of the photos that have been published on the JPL website. Additionally, I have researched several alternative information websites who have themselves published stories and articles and research on this issue.
I would like, at this time to take a few words to acknowledge the research and work of several of those who have provided both inspiration and direction in this research. First is Richard Hoagland, former science advisor to CBS News and publisher of The Enterprise Mission Website. Richard has waged a lonely battle for the evidence of Martian Civilization now for nearly three decades. Perhaps soon he will feel vindicated as thousands and thousands of people begin to see the overwhelming evidence that is now accumulating. It was listening to Richard one night on Coast-to-Coast AM that originally inspired me to begin searching the Mars Rover photos. The rest, as they say is history.
Also, I would like to acknowledge Norman Brydon a.k.a. Storm, a writer on Surfing The Apocalypse who posted a small section of the NASA images at http://www.msss.com/moc_gallery/r10_r15/full_gif_non_map/R12/R1201044.gif which will serve as one of the bases for this article.
In earlier articles I have pointed to numerous evidences of not just the idea that life existed on Mars at one time in the distant past, but that this life was intelligent and hauntingly familiar to us. These evidences have been, for the most part, small scale objects in the Martian landscape near the two rover landing sites, that appear to be of intelligent manufacture, artistry or sculpture.
Now we are going to analyze two photos that come from the orbiter and not from the rovers. Of course, only NASA can tell us where, exactly, on the Martian landscape these photos describe, but we can point to the specific photos, and when NASA decides to answer these questions and give to us mushrooms residing in the darkness the benefit of their own enlightenment, then perhaps we can make some projections as to the actual scale of the objects which we are going to examine. But this much is certain. the fact that they are visible from orbit, and visibly recognizeable as artifactual in nature argues for an enormous scale, thus the title of this article. So, let us examine the photo's involved...
We will be examining 5 photos extracted from two master NASA images, the first two were extracted from the photo whose link was given as http://www.msss.com/moc_gallery/r10_r15/full_gif_non_map/R12/R1201044.gif the reader is, of course, encouraged to download and examine this photo for him or herself.
This image is a high sun angle exposure of the Martian landscape from the NASA MOC series (Mars Orbital Camera) and appears to have been taken from an almost directly overhead but slightly southern view of the section of landscape involved. The orbital altitude is roughly 250 miles and the camera resolution on the original MOC photos is 1.5 to 12 meters per pixel. Now we will not try to pretend we can be precise to 1.5 meters but we can estimate a broad range by estimating the space these images occupy on the originals and then noting the number of pixels per inch that resolution renders. Through this process we can then determine their scale within a broad range by using the formula pI x I x 1.5m to 12m = LD where p=pixels, I=Inches, m=meters and LD=Linear Distance. The two photos that follow are jpg renderings of the original .gif files and have therefore been reduced in size in order to be able to upload them to this website. However, as we analyze these scales we will make reference to the pixel densities and measurements contained in the original NASA MOC non-map image downloaded from the gallery.
Colossus of Mars
We have chosen to call this image the Colossus of Mars because the MOC photo yields the following result 72pI x 1.5" x 1.5m to 12m = 162 meters to 1296 meters Linear Distance, in this case estimated height of the object in the picture. Admittedly this is rather a large spread, still it is clear that this image seems to stand anywhere from 526' to 4212'. So it is not small and is potentially, well, colossal. But why do we even think of it as a statue. Why not just an unusual rock formation, such as might be found in the wilds of our own Wyoming badlands? The answer to that question lies in a somewhat closer examination that we will now undertake.

Aside from some slight brightness and contrast enhancements on the original this closeup of the figure has been otherwise unenhanced. Readers should note several characteristics that mitigate towards a decision to conclude that this is, in fact, an intelligently constructed artifact.
First the overall shape of the figure is decidedly humanoid, but not, as we would expect, were we to be projecting our own image onto it, facing directly at us, rather it appear to be facing to our left, which would, given the polar orbit of the camera, be to the Martian east.
Secondly, the lines of the figure are remarkably smooth and well delineated with the right arm, bent at the elbow and the hand appearing to lie on the left shoulder where it appears that the only visible section of the left arm is the left elbow and it appears to be crossed under the right arm.
Third the shape of the head is not human, rather it appears to be a "beaked" visage that is reminiscent of the God Horus as seen in Egyptian mythological pictographs, though not so clearly hawklike. Here the visage appears more in line with that photo taken by the Spirit Rover reflected in an earlier article.

Of course this is a much smaller broken visage but the proportions and shape appear hauntingly similar to that of the statue above. This beaked image is hauntingly familiar as well, remarkably similar to Egyptian images of Horus, who, coincidentally was the Egyptian God of the Sun. For those who are having some difficulty connecting the dots on this image of the Colossus of Mars I have done a brief line enhancement in order to bring out the interesting shapes contained thereon.

Readers should note several interesting aspects of this photo. First it appears there is a substantial base upon which the statue stands, which would be entirely consistent with the need to provide such a structure with adequate engineering foundations. Note also that this base appears also to have some artifactual characteristics, such as that it appears to be a somewhat fan shaped stone pedestal with several distinct structural inclusions in the facing side.
Secondly the entire complex appears to be surrounded by a highly reflective, winding, flat surface that could well be the irregular remains of what appears to be a road or trail, or plaza of some sort. Below the road, in the center and lower right there appear to be several areas that also contain the smooth and regularized characteristics of artifactual structures of some sort.
Finally, it appears the rear of the figure extends from the bottom of the base all the way to the top in a sheer line, which would not be normal in a naturally occuring columnar spire of this sort, which would be surrounded at its base with a symmetric spread, rather than what appears to be a counterweighted foundation with structures weighted to the foreground.
So, upon close examination, what we appear to have here is a large memorial complex of some sort, with a statue standing on a base whose dimensions appear to be anywhere from several hundred meters to nearly a half a mile, while the statue itself appears to be anywhere from 550' to 4200' tall. The figure that appears to have been memorialized in some fashion bears a hauntingly close resemblence to the ancient Egyptian God of the sun Horus, the son of Isis and Isiris, the earth and the sky. The figure holds a posture that is likewise similar to the classic funerary posture of the pharoahs that which occurs in ancient Egyptian theology, the arms crossed at the wrists with the hands at the contralateral shoulders.
Although we will not now advance that there is a direct connection between this structure on the Martian landscape and our ancient Egyptian cosmology, the simillitudes cannot be denied and certainly should inspire our curiosity. However, we have only just begun to examine this latest evidence for an advanced urban civilization on Mars some time in the distant past.
Located what appears to be anywhere from 540 meters to 4.3 kilometers to the southeast of this statue is another rather interesting structure which we have dubbed the "skyscraper"
The Skyscraper
Now, this structure has a slightly forshortened perspective to it that makes it more difficult to estimate its actual height, but it we compare it to the statue above, directly, it appears to be of roughly the same height. Therefore we can assume that it is a large formation and perhaps even a "colossal" formation, depending on where in the range between 1.5m to 12m per pixel that the resolution of the original photo puts it. In any event, even with just this semi-distant view it becomes clear that there are articfactual characteristics of this structure that simply shout "intelligently constructed" versus "natural formation". However, we will still examine this structure more closely so that those features we consider apparently artifactual are clear to the viewer.

This particular image has so many points of interest it is hard ot know exactly where to begin. First, there actually appears to be two, perhaps three large structures in this closeup. There is the central tower, which appears to have a slightly offset, almost "twin tower-like" construction, behind which appears to be a semi-circular, multi-level structure that appears to surround the rear of the central towers and climb approximately a third the height of the central tower structure.
Additionally, there appears to be a multi-level structure located in the lower right hand corner of the frame that has had its ceiling structures either open naturally, or removed through deterioration and the rooms and spaces beneath exposed.
Finally, once again, there appears to be highly reflective, flat surfaces that wind through the entire complex that could easily be the remains of roadways, drives, or perhaps plazas of one kind or another. Once again, for the benefit of those who have a hard time organizing these admitedly fuzzy images into organic shapes I have provided a shape outlined version to assist.
We will turn now to several frames extracted from NASA PIA04401 and published on the NASA JPL website. First will be an overall view of the area from which the frames that follow were extracted.

We have deliberately mounted this frame so that the details are indistinct but the overall impression of the frame is clear. There appear to be a very high density of highly reflective surfaces in this frame, some of them clustered into very suggestive forms that can do no less than attract the viewers attention and curiosity. It was from this over all frame that two sections appeared especially intriguing as they contained a shape that seems to be reproduced in many areas around Mars and that is the pentagonal tetrahedron.

Not only is there a pentagonal tetrahedron in the upper left corner of this frame, which was extracted from the lower, central western portion of the original area photo, but there appears to be some intriguingly placed mounds in the central area of the frame that look suspicisously regular in their placement. There is the need to exercise some caution in viewing this regularity, as some of it appears to be image duplication resulting from one strip segment being partially reproduced on top of another in the process of matching strip segments for continuity. We will examine each of these characteristics a little more closely, with an enhanced closeup that will deal with both those items that appear to be artifactual and those that appear to be image redundancy in continuity matching.
Not only are these interesting shapes, they are multiform in a relatively small area, considering their layout. There is a simple arrow - I have labeled it the "boomerang" - a triangle, concentric circles, and a pentagonal structure, all within what appears to be the same complex of structures. Additionally, all of it seems to be interspersed with an underlying honeycomb grid of some kind that is reminiscent of nothing so much as an aerial photograph of an urban grid.
The annotated frame above has been enhanced to 300 pixels per inch from its original resolution of some 72 pixels per inch and the enhancement has brought out the underlying grid. It would be possible to call this a pixelation artifact if it were not for the fact that this grid appears to change shape and direction in sections closely tied to one another, as well as across good distances. This appears, on close examination, to be nothing more, nor less, than a ruined megalopolis of collosal proportions. The following frames, taken from the very lowest center section of the original frame bear this assessment out.
Originally, the following frame was extracted from the next to the last bottom strip, right in the center and the central shape actually faced to the west. I rotated it 90 degrees clockwise in order to better orient the shape itself.

At first blush the shape appears to be the top of another pentagonal tetrahedron, with the bottom obliterated by some highly reflective material transversing the bottom of what appears to be a crater of some sort. However, with just a little closer examination it can be seen that the shape itself appears to be a stepped pyramidal structure sitting on a reflective plane with a semi-circular cliff wall behind it. All of this appears to be rising above the same kind of complexly gridded background as the mounds previously examined above. By closing in and contrast enhancing this frame we obtained the following...

What is truly fascinating here is that the terraced appearance only hinted at in the previous frame now jumps out at the viewer in stark relief and it is even possible to see the details of a large structural complex in the seven o'clock position below the plateau on which rests the pyramid. Additionally, above the pyramid plateau there are at least three layers of additonal terracing that appears to have structures sitting in otherwise flat, reflective, serpentine planes. Finally, once again, the underlying grid patterns are not refelctive of repetitive pixelation artifact, but are in fact multiform and linear, circular, triangular, serpentine, cylindrical and cubic. This is, short of the necessary equivocation of being a digitally processed photo of a structure more that 36 million miles away from the planet, as closely outlined a facsimile of a ruined urban landscape as could be obtained anywhere.
I would challenge NASA in this article to present us with their own digital enhancements of this photo using clearly more sophisticated techniques and technologies, and demonstrate conclusively that the above analysis is in error. Otherwise, NASA needs to address this central question... Why is the evidence that a sophisticated urban civilization once extant on the Planet Mars not being openly discussed, reviewed, commented upon and examined in the scientific literature. Why do these analyses have to appear in alternative web resources where it is easy to dismiss them as the over imaginative projections of the "lunatic" fringe?
I have presented in this series meticulous documentation of all of the conclusions and images, as well as the methods used to process and derive them. It is interesting to note that with the exception of Richard Hoagland on The Enterprise Mission website, Surfing The Apocalypse, Human Imagineering and The Rumormill News, none of these issues appears to have attracted the attention, or analysis of "serious" scholars. In my opinion the evidence speaks for itself, but it would be appropriate, certainly at this late stage, for the professional scholars in whom we entrust our institutional memory and wisdom to perhaps pick up the gauntlet that has been laid down here and elsewhere and answer the charge of IGNORANCE in its worst possible form... deliberate.
