How Often A Typical Cat Should Be Groomed?

As if a 'typical cat' exists! Some experts say that cats should be brushed 5-10 minutes each day to help remove dirt and dead hair. Daily brushing stimulates the production of natural skin oils and helps spread them throughout the animal's coat to keep it shiny and lustrous. Pets with normal coats and skin need only be bathed as often as the owner deems necessary ( not more than twice per month). Bathing too often can remove naural oils and lead to dry skin and other skin problems. (Source: Chris C. Pinney, DVM, Guide to Home Pet Grooming, Barron's Educational Series)
