AECT Annual International Convention - Call for Proposals 
Strengthening Connections
October 11th-14th, 2006    Dallas, Texas 
 
  The AECT Annual International Convention will be held in October of 2006 at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas, right next to the Historic Arts District. The convention theme is Strengthening Connections. Supporting the main theme are four sub-themes related to making stronger connections: (1) Between theory and practice, (2) Between new technologies and educational goals, (3) Between researchers around the globe; and (4) Between new professionals and more experienced colleagues. We encourage proposals to support the convention theme and its sub-themes. "...Selected grades in elementary, middle and high school on Tuesday began taking the TAKS. Next week, third-graders will take the reading test, a component that will determine whether they will be promoted to the fourth grade.


Based on last year's field test, as many as 42,000 third-graders could fail. Results from the high school field tests were just as alarming. In those tests, nearly 60 percent failed the English/language arts test and about 40 percent failed the math test..."
