Visiting with Eileen Derek visted with Eileen Robertson of Humboldt in the Senate chamber in the spring of 2007.  Eileen traveled to Topeka to be in the Senate the day Derek presented a resolution honoring the work of volunteers who helped obtain a federal designation of the Freedom Frontier National Heritage Area in eastern Kansas.  The heritage area honors the Civil War and freestate history of the region.
