If you are flying in...plan to go to Hopkins Airport in Cleveland. Try to arrive before 6PM on Tuesday evening before class. We are not on a shuttle route and we try to arrange for a group limo at 6PM. Plan to fly out after 2PM on Sunday afternoon at the conclusion of class. We will arrange a group limo back to the airport at noon from the college.
Lakeland is around 50 miles away from the airport and taxi rides cost around $100.00 one way. There are cars for rental by reservation at the airport.
Please contact us when you have your itinerary so we have time to arrange a group limo if needed. We need airline, flight number, and arrival time information.
If you are driving from the airport, take route 90 east all the way straight to the route 306 exit. Turn right onto route 306 and stay near the left turn lane. The hotel (Days Inn) is just before the college on the left side. Lakeland is 1/4 mile south on route 306 on the left. Parking is free. Lakeland campus is bordered by Mentor, Willoughby, and Kirtland. The college mailing address is Kirtland. The hotel next door is situated on the Willoughby side. The closeness of the city lines can be confusing.
Nurses traveling in from out of town are encourged to stay at the Days Inn in Willoughby on route 306. We are in a rural area and the hotel is next door to the college. We reserve a block of rooms under the name "Lakeland RNFA course". Call the hotel directly 440.946.0500 to make a reservation and get the special rate. Management has changed at the hotel, but the new manager accepts the arrangement made by the former personnel for the special prices and meal discounts.
The hotel offers a continental breakfast with the room and free wireless internet is available there and at the college. There is a coffee pot, microwave, and fridge in each room. Meals at the Dino's Restaurant in the hotel are discounted with your room key. The food is awesome! My family eats there often. The Nurses usually meet Tuesday evening at 730PM before the first day of the RNFA class for a little group dinner to chat and get aquainted.
There is a large shopping mall in Mentor (within 3/4 miles) with a movie theater complex. In Cleveland, the Rock Hall of fame is open until 9PM on Wednesday evening as are the museums in University Circle.
We ask that drivers staying at the hotel check in the lobby for ther participants who would like a ride over in the AM. We do not have sidewalks and safety could be a concern. As you drive into the Lakeland campus you will be heading directly toward the clocktower where you will turn left at the first stop sign. Go slow...turn right into the first driveway and park in the central lot (it's marked). The college picture on the front page of this site shows a set of long glassed windows to the left. That is the Perioperative Lab H107.
Lakeland has a beautiful campus with a great fitness center with machines, track, and weights. You will need your student number (a copy of your schedule) to get in.
