Important California Insurance Consumer Links on the World Wide Web
Description of the links below

  • United Policyholders

United Policyholders is a non-profit, tax exampt organization founded in 1991 that is dedicated to educating the public on insurance issues and consumer rights related thereto. UP's first project was organizing and educating the victums of a Northern California firestorm that destroyed 3,000 homes and businesses and gave rise to many insurance claim disputes. Since that time, UP's work has broadened in scope. UP produces a quarterly newsletter, written materials on a range of insurance issues, and a video available for purchase. UP also provides speakers at community and government forums, organizes meetings in disaster areas, and acts as a clearinghouse for information on insurance issues. United Policyholders also files amicus curiae, ("friend of the court") briefs in cases involving important insurance principles. UP is largely run by volunteers and funded by individual donations and grants.

David Shaffer Insurance Services encourages you to become an informed citizen and consumer and to let your elected officials know how you feel on any insurance laws that could be passed by the California Legislature.
