ChrysMarie Suby is an international healthcare consultant specializing in the area of clinical operations, scheduling and staffing systems, and productivity management. She is an author, professional speaker, and co-owner of the Labor Management Institute, Inc. 

ChrysMarie consults on clinical operations working with clients to:

·        Analyze operations, formulate financial and resource management goals, and develop tailored strategies for implementation;

·        Develop workforce management procedures for hospitals, increasing productivity and reducing costs;

·        Teach budgeting, scheduling, daily staffing, management information, and supplemental pool design;

·        Design and implement comprehensive Staffing Management Plans, which result in a reduction of premium labor dollars and department overhead costs;

·        Reduce the chaos of daily staffing;

·        Teach and demonstrate effective use of automated scheduling systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and provide a foundation for understanding resource use;

·        Create infrastructure for delivery of staffing resources to patient care area for centralized and decentralized departments.

Her background and expertise includes experience in both centralized and de-centralized operations consultation and implementing innovative practical strategies that balance the workforce and workplace in all types of hospital departments. Her specialty areas include clinical operations, labor management, scheduling, and staffing to budget in healthcare and other organizations nationally and internationally.

ChrysMarie Suby is co-founder of the Labor Management Institute, an international research, education and consulting institute.

• 2004 saw the launching of a national certification and seminar program specialized in the area of scheduling and staffing with the following offerings:
• Staffing & Scheduling Certification for the Clinical Manager
• Clinical Resource Leader Certification
• Labor Analyst Certification
• Clinical Manager Staffing & Scheduling Seminar

The Labor Management Institute will conduct its 16^th Annual Survey of Hours© in 2005 which is a national database for comparing labor hours and productivity for teaching, community, and rural hospitals. The IOM both cited and quoted this report in their 2004 report on “Keeping Patients Safe”.

• ChrysMarie is co-editor of the Perspectives in Staffing & Scheduling Newsletter© (PSS™) a national healthcare newsletter focused specifically on issues of healthcare scheduling and staffing.
• The Labor Management Institute is preparing for its 9^th annual PSS™ International Conference on Workforce Management, a forum on labor management and productivity.  The 2005 meeting is scheduled for March 2-4 in Orlando, FL.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:

Ms. Suby has over 30 years healthcare experience in a variety of clinical and management positions.

• Co-founded and partnered with Eunice Lawrenz in establishing Nursing Management Services, Inc. which later became Lawrenz Consulting.
• Co-developed the AcuStaf Scheduling, Staffing & Labor Management System™ with Eunice Lawrenz from 1981 to 1995 and Terry Suby between 1981 and the present time.
• Co-developed with Terry Suby the AcuStaf DataClock Time and Attendance System™, the AcuStaf Personal Schedule Card System™ and the AcuStaf AutoCall System™.
• Co-editor of a nationally recognized newsletter Perspectives of Staffing and Scheduling© (PSS™)
• Co-publisher of a nationally recognized research report, the Labor Management Institute’s Annual Survey of Hours© Report. 

CREDENTIALS:

ChrysMarie attained her Associate and Bachelors degree from Metropolitan College in Minneapolis, MN and her MS/Adult Nurse Practitioner at the University of Minnesota. She is a member of AONE and MNA.
