File Dino, thanks for the help! It's really nice of you to take the time to think about this. After your suggestion, I went back and listened to the word again (and again, and again...), and it seems like I hear something other than "leventades"...I *know* I hear something other than the word that the guy originally wrote out. What I think I hear now is "mpenetades" from "mpenetada", which according to my dictionary means either "departure" or "farewell meal". Is "na dwsei mpenetades" an idiom, or does it really mean "to give farewell dinners"??? From the context of the song, 'Nikolos' is returning to the island, so it doesn't exactly fit that the 'nisiwtissa' would give him "farewell" dinners. I suppose it could go along with the wine mentioned in the first line of the verse! Does this make sense to your native-speaker ears? Thanks for your ideas.
