Subject REMOUNDOS + ANTONIS

Hi Andrea...

I own an instrument by Antonis... his last name is Yiannoulos. He is sometimes referred to as Lariseos because he is in Larisa! Anyway, I am really very happy with this bouzouki. The workmanship is very, very good... it isn't excellent, Kleftoyiannis is the man for excellent. But, finish-work aside, the instrument is very comfortable to play and the sound is wonderful. Good, full bass... nice clean high notes... good resonance and good volume. It sounds similar to Barlas and Karandreas instruments I've heard. Once I pick this bouzouki up, I have a very hard time putting it down... the sound just makes me want to keep on playing. The thing is, Barba Antonis, makes a really great instrument at a very reasonable price. I would say that he is easily 20 - 30% less expensive than the "Big Names" for a similar instrument. I've also heard that the man is a very nice guy, thus the nickname, Barba Antonis. I've seen at least a half-dozen instruments from Yiannoulos, and I have not seen a bad one in the lot. Both bouzouksides with Melas are playing Yiannoulos bouzoukia and so was the bouzouksis with Stathis Aggelopoulos.

I've only played one Remoundos, but it was a very good instrument. The workmanship was very clean, the instrument was easy to play and it had a sweet, resonant sound. Feedback on Remoundos, himself, has all been very favorable. People feel that he is a real gentleman.

Hope this helps.

-makis

P.S. Lou... my pleasure!
