The Visa Waiver Pilot Program (VWPP) was enacted in 1986 and allows foreign nationals from qualifying countries to be admitted to the U.S. for 90 days or less for business or pleasure without obtaining a visa. To qualify, an applicant must:

  • An applicant must demonstrate that you are a citizen of a qualifying county
  • An applicant must present a signed VWPP agreement from a commercial airline agreeing to remove the applicant from the United States if that applicant is found to be inadmissible or deportable (a list of participating carriers is maintained at the INS' National Fines Office located at 1400 Wilson Blvd. Suite 210 Arlington, VA 22209, Tele. (202) 305-7018.)

For Mexican and Canadian Citizens arriving at land based ports of entry, the document requirements are largely the same except there is no requirement for round-trip tickets or agreements from commercial carrier to remove the applicant.
