Birth Injuries Wisconsin and Minnesota Birth Injury Lawyers and Attorneys

Birth injuries may occur when a baby suffers a trauma before, during or after the birthing process.  Injuries may vary and so do the causes of those birth injuries. Often, babies suffer injuries during the birthing process because their heads experience so much pressure during delivery. Common birth injuries include swollen scalp, forcep marks, and bruising.  If your child was born with a birth defect, you should immediately  contact a Minnesota birth injury attorney to represent you and your child.  Our lawyers have experience and a reputation for success.  Contact our birth injury lawyers and invest in your family's future.

It is important to note that in more serious cases, birth injuries may include:

Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy is a medical condition caused by a permanent brain injury that occurs before, during, or shortly after birth.   This birth injury may be caused or exacerbated based on the failure of a physician to diagnose fetal distress resulting in birth asphyxia and brain damage often diagnosed as Cerebral Palsy.  The resulting symptoms of cerebral palsy may include a lack of muscle control and movement, spasms, seizures, problems with ocular and auditory functions and learning disorders

Erbs Palsy or Brachial Palsy

Erb's palsy or brachial palsy is a birth injury that causes weakness in a newborn baby's arm.  Such birth defects may be caused by a stretch injury during the birthing process to the brachial plexus which is a network of nerves near the neck.

Subconjunctival Hemorrhage

A subconjunctival hemorrhage is a birth injury that may occur when a tiny blood vessel breaks just underneath the clear surface of the baby's eye leaving a bruise or red spot trapped under the surface of the eye. The condition is temporary and does not impair vision.

Facial Paralysis

Facial paralysis is a medical birth defect which is often caused by pressure applied to the baby's face during labor or birth. Often the use of forceps during childbirth may may damage the infant's facial nerves. More significant nerve damage may require surgery to repair the damaged nerves.

Brain Injury

Although cerebral palsy is a birth defect that is caused by a brain injury, there are other, equally severe, brain injuries which may occur.  Often, such birth  injuries are caused when the forces applied during the birthing process impair the infant's ability to deliver oxygen or blood to the brain. In some instances this can be caused by twisting or compression of the umbilical cord. Such oxygen or blood deprivation can cause brain damage, seizure disorders, cerebral palsy, or mental impairment.
