Acoustic Emission Consulting, Inc. was founded by President John Rodgers in 1991 after a successful 12 year career with Acoustic Emission Technology Corp. and Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection Technologies. He has over 25 years experience in the application of acoustic emission to materials testing and field inspection practice. AEC represents over twelve years of involvement in EPRI-sponsored research in the application of acoustic emission to high energy piping applications. This includes co-development of the EPRI AE Guidelines for testing of HRH seam-welded piping (1995).
In 2000 Mark Ferdinand joined AEC after a long career in the design of acoustic emission instrumentation with several AE companies. He is spearheading the design of a new series of low cost field portable instruments, such as the AED-2000, that can be used for a variety of inspection tasks--leak detection, machinery health monitoring, partial discharge detection in transformers are just some of them.
In September 2001 we welcomed Alan Dietrich to our staff as Project Manager. Alan had a long and successful career with Northern Indiana Public Service Co, and has a strong background in nondestructive testing and welding certification. Alan was integrally involved in the introduction of AE for testing of seam welded fossil piping at NIPSCO, and also introduced stud welding for waveguide attachment. Alan coordinates our service projects with electric utility customers, and manages all of our site testing activities. We are very pleased to have a person of Alan's caliber and experience join our staff.
