Brown 3 SH SEM Creep damage in… Acoustic Emission found activity during online conditions in SH link piping segments at Kentucky Utilities Brown #3 unit in 1997-98. One section was removed and investigated by EPRI. Sensitive phased array ultrasonics located indications in the area detected by AE monitoring. A 3" plug was sent to M&M Engineering (Austin, TX)for cryocracking analysis. This SEM photo at 5000x shows isolated early stage creep cavitation found in the weld centerline.
