Acoustic Emission Consulting, Inc.: Acoustic Emission Consulting, Inc. was established in 1991 in response to the need in the fossil power industry for a more economical method of assessing the structural integrity of high energy piping systems. We have been integrally involved with all EPRI-sponsored R&D activities since 1989, and helped develop the EPRI Guidelines for acoustic emission monitoring of seam-welded hot reheat piping (Nov. 1995). Since then we have gathered an extensive database of test results on over 100 piping systems. We are also integrally involved in writing an ASTM standard for AE testing of high energy seam welded piping: "Standard Test Method for Acoustic Emission Examination of Seam-Welded High Energy Piping" Working Document WK658. Approval is expected in 2005.
