Action for Children
Action for Children, formerly the Day Care Action Council of Illinois, has championed the cause of quality child care and early education for families and children throughout Illinois for 35 years. Action for Children provides access to resources, community, advocacy – and represents an alliance of individuals and groups dedicated to empowering and supporting parents, child care providers and family service programs. Its mission is to create a common voice and vision for advancing high quality and accessible programs that foster the development, health and well-being of all Illinois children.




Americorps

AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs that engage more than 50,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. AmeriCorps members serve through more than 2,100 nonprofits, public agencies, and faith-based organizations. They tutor and mentor youth, build affordable housing, teach computer skills, clean parks and streams, run after-school programs, and help communities respond to disasters. Created in 1993, AmeriCorps is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, which also oversees Senior Corps and Learn and Serve America. Together these programs engage more than 2 million Americans of all ages and backgrounds in service each year.





APA for Progress
A grassroots, internet-empowered, national network of Asian Pacific Americans for Progressive Action.  We are dedicated to working with APAs across this great country to continue the grassroots movement for positive, progressive change in America.




Apna Ghar
Apna Ghar is a domestic violence shelter serving primarily Asian women and children, and was the first Asian shelter of its kind in the Mid-Western United States. Apna Ghar takes its name from a Hindi-Urdu phrase meaning "Our Home", and since January 1990 has served over 3800 domestic violence clients. 




Asian American Alliance

The Asian American Alliance is a not-for-profit small business advocacy organization committed to assisting Asian American, minority, non-minority, women-owned small and disadvantaged business owners in Illinois.  The Alliance was incorporated in 1994 as a result of collaborative efforts by the Chinatown, Korean, Philippine and Vietnamese American Chambers of Commerce.  The mission of the Alliance is to increase the economic potential of small businesses by providing technical knowledge to entrepreneurs through training, vendor development, technical assistance and advocacy.





Asian American Coalition Committee
The Asian American Coalition Committee is a coalition of Asian American students at UIC. It aims to unify Asian American students to strengthen their voice on campus, to educate the entire UIC community about issues concerning Asian Americans, and to empower Asian American students through gaining visibility and representation.




Asian American Institute
The Institute was established in 1992 as a pan-Asian, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. The mission is to empower the Asian Pacific American community through advocacy, utilizing research, education and coalition building. Current programs include the Redistricting Education Project, the APA Political Empowerment Initiative, APA Education Resource Guide and advocacy against hate crimes. Our motto is to "empower, educate and advocate," and with your help, we hope to continue doing just that.




Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund

Founded in 1974, the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) is the first legal rights organization on the East Coast serving Asian Americans. We were founded by a group of lawyers, law students and community activists who believed that the law should be used as a tool to achieve social and economic justice for Asian Americans and all Americans.

Asian Health Coalition
The Asian Health Coalition of Illinois which was incorporated in 1998 is a non-profit, community-based organization whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of Asian     Americans and Pacific Islanders in Illinois through advocacy, technical assistance, public education, and community-based research.

Asian Social Network

Asian Social Network, a for-profit corporation, was founded in March 2001 to provide an environment where young professionals and organizations representing different Asian ethnic backgrounds can organize and participate in social, charitable and community-based activities. Cambodian Association of Illinois
CAI primarily serves the 7,000 Cambodians in Illinois, 5,000 of whom live in Chicago.




Chicago Abused Women Coalition
CAWC is committed to ending domestic violence. Using a self-help, empowerment approach, we provide a shelter for women and children, and counseling, advocacy, and a 24-hour hotline for people affected by domestic violence. We work for social change through education, service collaboration, and institutional advocacy.




Chicago Appleseed Fund for Justice
The Chicago Appleseed Fund for Justice is a nationally connected social impact research and advocacy organization that works to achieve fundamental, systemic reform by addressing policies and practices that prevent individuals from reaching their full potential. Chicago Appleseed focuses on social justice and government effectiveness issues affecting citizens of Chicago and suburban Cook County . We are an affiliate of Appleseed and a certified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. We focus on social justice and government effectiveness issues ranging from fair criminal justice systems to equal access in financial institutions.




Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce
 To improve and expand business opportunities and to educate others on the history, culture, and customs of the Chinese American community.




Chicago's Metropolitan Tenants Organization
Metropolitan Tenants Organization (MTO) is a coalition of community organizations and individuals dedicated to safe, decent affordable housing for all. MTO works on projects that support the self-help efforts of tenants to exercise their rights: operates a tenants rights hotline, trains community-based organizations, organizes buildings and participates in affordable housing advocacy campaigns.




Chicago Volunteer Legal Services

Since 1964, thousands of Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation volunteers have served nearly 300,000 clients with their everyday legal matters. And they have not accepted a dime in return. CVLS offers quality legal services to low income Chicagoans who could not otherwise afford access to the law. Our volunteer team--currently more than 2,000 strong--provides our clients with representation in "everyday" civil issues such as adoption, child support, powers of attorney and consumer contracts.





Chinese American Service League

Founded in 1978, the Chinese American Service League (CASL) is the largest and most comprehensive social service agency in the Midwest dedicated to serving the needs of Chinese Americans.  Housed in five facilities, with 190 bilingual/bicultural professional and support staff, CASL's $5.2 million programming.  Housed in five facilities, with 190 bilingual/bicultural professional and support staff, CASL's $5.2 million programming serves over 14,000 clients annually.  CASL's devoted staff is supported by an active Board of Directors, Advisory Board, and Associate Board of young professionals.  All members of the CASL family are dedicated to providing recent immigrants the support they need to become independent, productive members of society. 





Chinese Mutual Aid Association
Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) is a double-site, community based social services agency. CMAA's mission is to serve the needs, promote the interests, and enhance the well-being of Chinese and other immigrants and refugees in Chicagoland, and to foster their participation in American society.

Christopher House's mission is to help children, families, and individuals in need help themselves through integrated social, educational, and human service programs.




Coalition of African, Asian, European and Latino Immigrants of Illinois
CAAELII's mission is to improve the quality of life for immigrants and refugees and to ensure their dignity and respect by uniting communities through education, leadership development and direct services. CAAELII works primarily with low-income immigrants and refugees with limited English skills.




Community Counseling Centers of Chicago

Since 1972, Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4) has dedicated itself to providing counseling experience and expertise to healing and helping men, women and children who are struggling with mental illness, substance addiction, emotional trauma and the aftermath of violence.





The Enterprising Kitchen

The Enterprising Kitchen, a social enterprise, enables women to maximize their individual potential.


We operate a light manufacturing company which produces specialty soap products and enables women from across Chicago to participate in an intensive, but individually oriented workforce development program which includes: paid employment, work and life skills training and a variety of other support services. While many participants in our program have challenging personal histories, often including substance abuse and homelessness, they are highly motivated and committed to building independent and sustainable livelihoods.





Family Rescue, Inc.
Family Rescue is dedicated to alleviating domestic violence in the Chicago Community by providing comprehensive support services and shelter to victims of domestic violence, particularly to abused women and their children; engaging in systemic advocacy to promote future change; and encouraging prevention through community education.




Filipino American Network
FAN is a social/networking hub that brings together young Filipino American adults (21-45) to facilitate, encourage and nurture their cultural, personal and professional development.




Heartland Alliance
Heartland Alliance is an anti-poverty, human rights organization that provides housing, health care and human services to improve the lives of impoverished Chicagoans. Once known as Travelers & Immigrants Aid, we've been helping the most marginalized men, women and children through services and advocacy since 1888.




Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights
ICIRR is dedicated to promote the rights of immigrants and refugees to full and equal participation in the civic, cultural, social, and political life of our diverse society.In partnership with our member organizations, the Coalition educates and organizes immigrant and refugee communities to assert their rights; promotes citizenship and civic participation; monitors, analyzes, and advocates on immigrant-related issues; and, informs the general public about the contributions of immigrants and refugees.




Indo-American Center

The Indo-American Center was established in 1990 in response to the wide spectrum of needs in the South Asian immigrant community, one of the fastest growing immigrant communities in the Chicago area. Many of its members are affluent professionals and business owners. However, a large number lack vocational and language skills and struggle to make ends meet. While the Center's educational, cultural, social, and charitable programs serve this diverse group, its doors are open to anyone who needs help, regardless of ethnicity or language, religious or political affiliation. The center assists nearly 10,000 people annually. In addition to people from South Asia, many other ethnic groups including European, Middle Eastern and others use its services.





Inspiration Corporation
Inspiration Corporation assists people in improving their lives through the provision of social services, housing, and employment training in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.

Inspiration Corporation currently encompasses two agencies: Inspiration Cafe (IC), located in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, and The Living Room Cafe (TLRC) in the Woodlawn community on the south side of Chicago. Both agencies serve meals in a restaurant-style setting, as well as providing other supportive services designed to help individuals on their journey toward self-sufficiency. Inspiration employs a concept of therapeutic community, where the community of people in common effort is the healing agent for the individual. This unique milieu is what makes Inspiration the safe, supportive and motivational environment unlike any other in Chicago and impacts the lives of guests for years.

Together, the Cafes have the resources to assist approximately 260 individuals annually.




Jane Addams Resource Corporation
Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) was founded in 1985 as a not-for-profit community development organization. OUR MISSON: "The Jane Addams Resource Corporation builds healthy communities through workforce, economic, and human development. It is rooted in the North Center, Lakeview, Lincoln Square, and Uptown neighborhoods and serves the Chicagoland area through a strategic mix of industrial retention, training, and educational initiatives."




Korean American Community Services
Korean American Community Services (KACS) is a not-for-profit social service organization located on the north side of Chicago, in closest proximity to the Albany Park, Irving Park, and Ravenswood communities. KACS is dedicated to serving the local community and the Chicago metropolitan area by offering a wide range of services including counseling, child care, senior housing, health care programs, immigration services, employment assistance, computer resource and training center, and English/civics education classes.




Korean American Resource and Cultural Center
The Korean American Resource & Cultural Center (KRCC) was established in March of 1995 by a group of young Korean Americans in order to address some of the needs and concerns of the evolving Korean American community.




Korean American Senior Center
The Korean American senior Center strives to be a leading force in supporting the elderly, with a primary focus on Korean Americans in metropolitan Chicago, by assisting them to obtain and sustain a sense of dignity and improved quality of life. This is achieved through: assistance in understanding and obtaining government benefits; in-home services and individual counseling; public policy advocacy; citizenship, language and other training services; cultural arts activities; and outreach programs.




Lao American Community Services




National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium
Founded in 1991, the National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium works to advance the human and civil rights of Asian Americans through advocacy, public policy, public education, and litigation. In accomplishing its mission, NAPALC focuses its work to Promote Civic Engagement, to Forge Strong and Safe Communities, and to Create an Inclusive Society in communities on a local, regional, and national level. NAPALC is one of the nation's leading experts on issues of importance to the Asian American community including: affirmative action, anti-Asian violence prevention/race relations, census, immigrant rights, immigration, language access, and voting rights.




National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association
As the first and oldest national Asian Pacific American law student organization, the National Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (NAPALSA) is committed to promoting education, leadership, community awareness, communication and interaction amongst the various Asian Pacific American law students across the country.




National Association for Asian American Professionals
The National Association for Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote the personal and professional development of Asian Americans. By pooling resources to support common goals, NAAAP strives not only to benefit members, but more importantly, the entire Asian American community and society at large.




Neopolitan Lighthouse
Neopolitan Lighthouse offers shelter to women and children for up to three months. While in shelter, women are offered group and individual counseling, case management, legal advocacy and linkage to other community services. Children also participate in individual and group counseling, a preschool program and after school tutoring.




Organization of Chinese Americans of Greater Chicago
Founded in 1973, the Organization of Chinese Americans, Inc. (OCA) is a national non-profit, non-partisan advocacy organization of concerned Chinese Americans. OCA is dedicated to securing the rights of Chinese American and Asian American citizens and permanent residents through legislative and policy initiatives at all levels of the government.  The local Greater Chicago Chapter of the Organization of Chinese Americans is involved in a variety of social, civic and educational activities.




Organization of the Northeast
Building a successful multi-ethnic, mixed-economic community on the northeast side of Chicago, in the neighborhoods of Uptown, Edgewater, Rogers Park and Ravenswood.  Founded in 1974, today ONE has over 80 diverse institutional members, including congregations, ethnic associations, businesses, and non-profits. ONE is a United Way agency and does not seek nor receive any governmental funding.




Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago
The Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago is a not-for-profit community organization devoted to community building, promoting Punjabi culture, language, performing arts, healthy life style, and sports in the metropolitan Chicago area.




Rainbow House

Rainbow House provides intervention and prevention domestic violence services to Chicago area residents. We have five programs that provide prevention and intervention services: 24 Hour Crisis Line, Residential Services Program, Children’s Program, Community Resource Program, and, Domestic Violence Prevention and Education Program. Our sites are located in the Lawndale, Little Village and Beverly/Morgan Park neighborhoods of Chicago. We have no geographic limitations for the clients we serve.





Residents for Effective Shelter Transitions


Recognizing that there are various causes and reasons that adult single men and women in Uptown/Edgewater are homeless, REST provides safe, quality overnight shelter. REST assists those homeless individuals who desire independant living in permanent housing to achieve this transition by providing supportive social services and housing and helping them develop their employment and life skills.





Sikh American Heritage Organization

The Sikh American Heritage Organization (SAHO) promotes and fosters fellowship with the American mainstream and minority communities while maintaining Sikh values, heritage, and identity. SAHO participates in Asian American events, Inter-faith programs, community affairs, social services, and other American civic activities.  The SAHO is based in metropolitan Chicago.  Locally, we serve the Chicago Metropolitan and Midwestern US area.  On a large scale, our aim is to represent the interests of Sikhs throughout US.
